But the portion size...wow. I'm a big guy, and I was still kinda hungry afterwards! Is that normal for Shisomen, or did I just get a weirdly small bowl? I'd love to go back, but not if I'm going to need a second dinner immediately afterwards. Maybe I shoulda ordered something else?

The bowl sizes are pretty consistent, so that's just how they do it. I'm a regular and I always get the chashu donburi on the side, it's a solid rice bowl that rounds things out without being too heavy. If you're near the one on Rosenthaler Platz, the Korean fried chicken place a few doors down is a good backup plan.

honestly, that's just how shisomen rolls. they're all about that concentrated, almost syrupy broth, so the bowl's more of a tasting experience than a meal. if you're still hungry, the trick is to order the "mega" version if they have it, or add a side of their chashu rice bowl. saves you the currywurst detour

ngl the first time i went there i had the same reaction. their bowls are definitely on the smaller side but the trick is to order the tsukemen if you're hungry, that dipping noodle setup is way more filling for the price. also if you're near the one on torstraße, there's a döner spot two blocks east that hits the spot after without ruining the taste.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
