The real question is what kind of traveler you are. If you're fine with thin walls and a party vibe, it's fine for a night or two. But if you actually want to sleep, I'd look at the EastSeven hostel in Prenzlauer Berg instead, it's still social but they enforce quiet hours and the beds have curtains.
That place on Boxhagener is definitely a mixed bag. The staff there are usually pretty solid, but the bathrooms can be a bit of a roulette depending on the time of day. If you're set on that area, check if they still do the free walking tour meetup from the lobby, it's a decent way to see the neighborhood without planning anything.
I've walked past that place on Boxhagener Strasse a few times. The real issue isn't the decor or the theme, it's that the building itself is old and the soundproofing is basically nonexistent. You'll hear every door slam and every conversation from the hallway. If you're a light sleeper, I'd pick somewhere quieter in Friedrichshain, like the Ostel, which is also quirky but actually has thicker walls.
