Currywurst Conundrum?

The line's always insane, but the smell...man, it's hypnotic. I finally got my hands on a döner, massive thing, almost needed a forklift. Thing is, I ordered the "classic," but it tasted...off? Like, not bad, just...different. Way more curry than I expected. Was it a new spice blend? Are there secret menu items they only offer to the locals? I need answers!!

honestly, you prob just got a döner from one of those spots that uses curry powder in the meat marinade. not a secret menu thing, just a style choice. some places near the gate lean into that because tourists expect everything to taste like currywurst. if you want the classic no frills version, walk to Pamfilya on Kottbusser Damm, they do a solid one without the extra seasoning. the line's shorter too

You probably got a döner from one of the places near the gate that's more of a "currywurst stand with a grill" than a proper kebab shop. Some of them season the meat with a heavy curry rub to stand out. If you want the real deal, walk ten minutes to Imren Grill on Boppstraße. They do a classic döner with just a bit of spice and the bread is baked fresh right there.

this is a known thing near the gate, some places use a curry-heavy marinade to differentiate themselves from the dozens of other stands. it's not a secret menu, just a local variation that's hit or miss. if you want the real classic style, go to Rüyam on Lausitzer Platz, they don't mess around with extra spices and the bread is perfect. the line moves fast too, way better than the tourist madness

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
