Quê Choa Conundrum?

But I'm a vegetarian, any chance they have killer vegetarian options beyond the usual tofu? I'm really hoping for some creative veggie dishes, you know, not just an afterthought. The reviews are all rave about the meat dishes but nothing much on the veg front... kinda stressing me out a little.

if you're flexible on cuisine, skip vietnamese entirely for a night and hit up Kopps on Linienstraße. it's fully vegan and the menu changes weekly based on what's seasonal, they do things like smoked carrot "salmon" or beetroot tartare that actually feel like proper dishes not just substitutions. reservation is basically required though, they fill up days in advance. for vietnamese specifically I'd agree with the Umami crowd, just don't expect Quê Choa to blow your mind without meat.

third rec for Umami is prob the move here, Quê Choa's veggie game is pretty standard. if you're deadset on going there, the crispy spring rolls are decent and the lemongrass tofu stir-fry is fine but nothing mindblowing. Umami's mushroom pho is actually creative, they use a smoked mushroom broth that's deep and rich, not just veggie stock with mushrooms thrown in. also worth knowing Quê Choa gets packed at dinner, like 45 min wait on a tuesday sometimes, so plan around that if u go.

honestly, Quê Choa is solid but it's not the most veggie-forward spot in Berlin. if you're already in that neighbourhood, try Umami on Reichenberger Str - they do vegan vietnamese with stuff like jackfruit "pork" and mushroom pho that actually tastes like they care. the owners are super chill about dietary stuff too

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
