plsss i need any recommendations <3

for decor specifically, hit the Sozialkaufhaus at Residenzstraße like the other person said but also check out the smaller one in Wedding, it's called "Kauf dich glücklich" on Seestraße, tiny but people sleep on it. got a full vintage sideboard there for 40 euros last month.

for clothes, avoid Humana on Sundays, it's chaos. go on a tuesday morning, that's when they restock from the weekend. also the second floor of the flea market at Arkonaplatz on saturdays has some gems, not the tourist junk, the back tables where old ladies sell their dead husband's shirts for 1 euro.

oh and one thing nobody mentions, the "Umsonstladen" in Neukölln on Weserstraße, it's a free shop, you just take stuff. hours are weird, check instagram before you go. got a ceramic cat and a working record player there, zero euros.

honestly skip the tourist spots around Boxhagener Platz, they know what they have. for clothes try Humana on Frankfurter Allee, the one near the Ringbahn, it's huge and priced by weight on certain days. for decor, check out the Sozialkaufhaus at Residenzstraße, it's a bit out the way but you'll find lamps and vases for 2 euros, no joke.

also check out the flea market at Mauerpark on sundays but go late, like after 3pm, when people just wanna get rid of stuff. you can haggle hard then. for actual shops, "Made in Berlin" on Oranienstraße has some cool vintage furniture but it's hit or miss, sometimes cheap sometimes not. better to hit the Kleinanzeigen app honestly, people give away decent stuff for free if you pick it up quick.

The trick is to leave the tourist zones entirely. For clothes, check out the FairKauf shops, there's one on Landsberger Allee that's massive and the prices are actually sane, like 5 euros for a winter coat. They sort everything by color and size, so you can actually find stuff instead of digging through bins.

For decor, the flea market at Boxhagener Platz on Sunday mornings is better for furniture than clothes, but the real score is the secondhand shops run by the churches, check "Sozialkaufhaus" on Residenzstraße like someone said, or the one in Pankow on Breite Straße. They get estate clearances, so you'll find weird old clocks and framed art for a couple of euros.

If you want to avoid the overpriced vintage boutiques in Kreuzberg, look for "Vintage & Gebrauchtes" shops in the outer districts like Spandau or Reinickendorf, those are the ones where the prices are still stuck in 2015. And for free stuff, the app "Nebenan.de" has a "zu verschenken" section that's way more active than Kleinanzeigen for decent furniture, people just want it gone.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
