I have a really hard time predicting where Berlin going, will thinga improve or not? A lot of things here don't work or are a bit broken.

There is of course also a lot of lovely places, otherwise we wouldn't build our lives here, but price increases seem to outpace quality of life.

What do you think? In the next 10 years, will things like housing, schools, infrastructure, traffic ... etc improve or not?

tbh the thing that flipped my view on Berlin was watching how fast the Mietendeckel thing got killed and how the city just kept going. for families I'd say stop thinking citywide and pick a Kiez with a Grundschule that's actually decent and a Kita you can reach by bike in 10 min. infrastructure moves slow here but the neighborhoods with new S-Bahn stations tend to get the schools and shops too, so follow the Bauarbeiten not the hype. prices wont drop much but they'll stall, which is basically a win if ur patient

been here 12 yrs & we bought in Lichtenberg 3 yrs ago so i get the stress. one thing nobody mentions: the Autobahn A100 extension thru Friedrichshain & the new S21 line will reshape whole neighborhoods by 2035, some spots near Ostkreuz are already pricing that in. for a family i'd honestly look at the ringbahn edge rather than inside it, you get the Kita spots & still a Garten. prices wont crash here, this isnt munich but its not 2012 anymore either, buy if ur staying put

The honest answer is that it depends a lot on which Bezirk you're looking at. The city is not one market. Pankow and Mitte will keep getting more expensive because that's where the jobs and the international demand are, but places like Marzahn, Spandau, or parts of Neukölln south of the Ring are still comparatively affordable and the S-Bahn extensions out there are actually moving. I'd look at where the new school capacity is being built, not where it's already oversubscribed. The Grundsteuer reform and the Mietpreisbremse debates are worth watching too, they'll shape whether buying makes sense versus renting long term.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
