I know there are life drawing classes, but wondering if anyone knows of groups/orgs which lean towards illustration and comics, as social events.

I speak German (rustily!)

honestly the tretraeder in prenzlauer berg has a weekly comics and zines meetup that flies under the radar, it's on wednesdays around 7pm. they're a tiny bar with a big table in the back, people just show up with their sketchbooks and trade ideas. also if you're into illustration, the berlin art institute on torstraße does a monthly "illustration club" on the first friday, more about process than finished work. both are way less formal than the life drawing stuff, more of a hang with beer vibe

oh you should def hit up the comicfestival berlin page, they sometimes post about pop-up events and sketch crawls that aren't super official. also the moscow on weberwiese has a monthly drawing night that's more illustration than life drawing, super chill vibe and people bring their own sketchbooks. i think it's the first wednesday of the month so you might catch it

check out koma buchhandlung in neukölln, they host comic workshops and meetups pretty often. also the berlin comic collective has a discord where people coordinate drawing hangouts, they do stuff at cafes in wedding sometimes. if you're here on a sunday, the fleamarkets at mauerpark or boxhagener platz often have zine stalls and you can chat with the makers

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
