Searching for Impossible Sanitätshaus?

The assumption is that the Sanitätshaus will specify which kind, because they can also fit it to me and check it's the right size and support.

However. I have yet to find a Sanitätshaus that actually knows what they're doing in this regard. They know a lot about the products they stock, but are useless when it comes to getting a good fit, or actually prescribing the right product. (And why should they be?! They're salespeople not occupational therapists) Thus, every time I get something that doesn't work for what I need. Except for once when I did my own research enough to scour the Sanitätshäuser across the city for exactly what I knew was right.

In Britain I might ask a physio but I've spoken to two here who dismissed braces out of hand at first mention, so it does not seem to be their area of expertise.

I'm sorely missing a specialised qualified occupational therapist or similar who can specify, fit and possibly make orthotics. But just choosing and fitting them would do. Can anyone recommend a Sanitätshaus that actually knows their stuff in this regard? Or am I just gonna have to go to the hyper specialised hand place in Spandau that my insurance refused? Or is there someone other than a Sanitätshaus that should be doing this job for me?

If you're near Friedrichshain, try Sanitätshaus Eppich on Warschauer Straße. They've got a Werkstatt in the back and the staff there actually measure and adjust things on the spot, not just hand you a box. I've had them swap out a hinge on a knee brace because the standard one didn't fit my leg shape, no extra charge. Might also be worth checking if your insurance covers a private Ergotherapeut for a single consultation - they can write a detailed fitting recommendation you take to any shop.

Honestly, you might have better luck with a "Reha-Technik" place rather than a regular Sanitätshaus. They tend to have actual orthopädie-techniker on staff who can measure and adjust stuff properly, not just sell you what's on the shelf. Might be worth looking for one near you.

Yeah that Reha-Technik suggestion is a good one but also try asking your orthopede directly if they have a preferred supplier. Most of them have a deal with one or two places and those places actually know what the doctor likes. If you go in blind you get whoever happens to be on

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
