EN// Does anyone have personal experience if you can use a Deutschland-Ticket to travel with the HBX from Berlin to Quedlinburg or other towns in Harz ?

Thanks!

I've used the Deutschlandticket on the HBX a few times now, it's fine. One thing worth noting is that the HBX is a regional train, not an ICE, so it's slower and can get crowded on weekends. If you're heading to Quedlinburg, get off at Halberstadt and take the short regional connection from there, it's easier than trying to figure out the bus from Thale.

One practical tip: the HBX doesn't run hourly like the regular RE lines, so check the schedule carefully before heading to Ostbahnhof or Gesundbrunnen. If you miss the only morning connection, you're stuck waiting a few hours or piecing together slower regional trains via Magdeburg. I'd also recommend sitting in the front cars for Quedlinburg, since those are the ones that continue to Thale while the back section splits off for Goslar.

The HBX is definitely covered by the Deutschlandticket, I've done Berlin to Wernigerode that way. Just be aware the train often splits at Halberstadt, so make sure you're in the right section if you're going past there. For Quedlinburg specifically, it's a short regional hop from Halberstadt, maybe 15 minutes, and you'll see the old town walls right from the train window as you pull in.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
