Any ideas what just happened on Bundesallee?

Right by the Güntzelstr. U9 station. One man arrested, someone attacked, large police presence and the street blocked off.

All I know to this point is that it wasn't English football fans

Worth noting that Bundesallee at that corner falls under Polizeiabschnitt 24, and their operations get logged with a Vorgangsnummer you can actually request via the Polizei Berlin citizen inquiry if you were a witness or your car got caught in the closure. For tonight, the fastest thing is usually the U9 disruption notice on the BVG app, since a police block that hits the Güntzelstr. entrance will show up there as an elevator or access issue before any press release lands. If you saw it firsthand, you can also file a Zeugenhinweis online, they do read those even for smaller Körperverletzung cases.

honestly if it was one arrest and a blocked street, thats usually a Körperverletzung or a robbery gone loud, not some big terror thing. the Kriminalpolizei takes over those cases and they dont rush a press release, so you might not see anything official for a day or two. fwiw i'd just ask in the r/berlin daily thread, someone always has a neighbor who saw it.

police in berlin actually publish a daily "polizeimeldung" around 8 or 9am with the previous day's incidents, so if nothing shows up on x tonight the full version will probably be there tomorrow morning. that stretch near güntzelstr is mostly residential so a blocked street there tends to mean something specific rather than random, worth checking the tagesspiegel blaulicht feed too, they pick up the abschnitt reports fast.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
