Did something happen with chicken prices/availability in the last months?

Is this a thing or am I just unlucky?

i noticed it too around späti season, the hühnerbrust at my Edeka on Karl-Marx-Str got really spotty but weirdly the frozen section stayed fine. tbh the fresh stuff seems to come in waves now, some weeks its stocked some weeks its bare. aldi nord has been the most consistent for me lately, way better than lidl which has been pretty empty on chicken for months

yeah its not just you. avian flu hit a bunch of german farms last year and a lot of the big suppliers culled flocks so the cheaper conventional stuff got thin. i noticed it at my Rewe on Weserstrasse around late summer, thighs were just gone for weeks and only the Bio ones at like 9 euro a kilo were left. Kaufland in Neukolln seems to have restocked better than the smaller stores lately if you dont mind the trek.

its partly seasonal too. german chicken demand drops hard after grilling season ends so stores cut their fresh orders way back from october through like march, thats why the cooler looks empty every winter. the avian flu thing made it worse this year but ive seen this pattern for a few years now. if you want thighs reliably, türkische läden and the weekend markets are your best bet, the one at Maybachufer on tuesdays and fridays usually has fresh hähnchenschenkel for around 5-6 euro a kilo and they dont run out the same way

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
