Is it possible to cancel a fine for empty towing?

I got a fine for empty towing - the tow truck came but didn't need to tow it since the service (sharenow) moved the car. Did anyone have experience canceling or reducing this amount? the key detail nobody mentioned: check who actually ordered the tow. if it was the Polizei and not the Ordnungsamt your Einspruch goes to a different address, usually the Polizeipräsidium on Platz der Luftbrücke for central districts. also the 14 day clock starts from when the Bescheid was delivered, not when the tow happened, so if you got it last week you still have room. i'd skip the phone calls and send everything schriftlich per Einschreiben, they lose email constantly

honestly the "Leerfahrt" charge is usually the hard part to fight because the tow company still showed up and logged the trip. if ShareNow moved it before they hooked up, get the exact timestamp from the app plus the trip receipt and send it to the Ordnungsamt that issued the fine. sometimes they drop the Abschleppkosten but keep a smaller Verwaltungsgebühr, so don't expect the whole thing gone. worth an Einspruch within 14 days either way.

tbh the Leerfahrt fee is basically the tow company's lost time so they fight hard to keep it. what worked for a friend in Prenzlauer Berg was proving ShareNow moved it before the truck arrived, she screenshot the app timeline and the driver's own photo showed the spot empty at 14:20 while the callout was logged 14:05. the Ordnungsamt dropped the tow itself but kept around 35 euro as Verwaltungsgebühr. you can also ask ShareNow for a Bestätigung that they relocated it, they're slow but it helps.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
