This includes his aunt and her husband, their two daughters and their son. We want to bring gifts from Germany, but they should be as space-saving as possible. Does anyone have any ideas about what people in Turkey would be happy to receive? Maybe there is something here that one of you has already brought back? Or something that isn't available in Germany?

I'm grateful for any help! :)

honestly, haribo is a classic but the real move is bringing a few bags of the gummy candy that's harder to find in turkey, like the sour snakes or the kind with the black licorice. also, my turkish friends always ask for proper german chocolate, like ritter sport, especially the cornflake or marzipan ones. both are small and flat so they pack easy, and you can split them up between the different family members without taking up much space

ngl those little packets of "Backerei" style cookies or "Leibniz" butter biscuits from Bahlsen are super easy to stash in a carry-on. they're not really a thing in turkey and everyone loves them with tea, just split the packs between the families

dm stuff is good but tbh turkish people love getting real german Nivea products since the formula is different there. the little tins of Nivea creme are tiny and you can toss one to each person easy. also those little bottles of "Kneipp" bath salts or oils are a hit and super light to pack

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
