What nice places have you discovered recently?

Summer is coming and I want to fill my map with new places. I'd love to hear about the parks, restaurants, cafés, bars and shops that you have recently fell in love with. my newest spot is the reading room at the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek at Hallesches Tor. sounds boring but they renovated the top floor, big windows, and you can sit there for hours with your own book, nobody bothers u. for coffee after, Kaffeekirsche on Gneisenaustraße does a solid flat white and the owner actually remembers your order.

also been swimming at Sommerbad Humboldthain on weekday mornings before work, its like 5.50 euro and basically empty until 9. way better than fighting for a spot at Prinzenbad on a Saturday.

There's a little Biergarten at the Späth'sche Baumschulen in Treptow that hardly anyone outside the neighborhood seems to know about. It's attached to the old nursery on Späthstrasse, benches under big trees, and you can wander the plant rows with a beer in hand. They close around 6 on weekdays which keeps the after-work crowd manageable, weekends are busier but still nothing like Prater. If you go, the S-Bahn to Baumschulenweg then a ten minute walk, and bring cash because the card machine is unreliable at best.

The Bäcker below the U-Bahn at Samariterstrasse has become a Saturday morning ritual for me, they do a rye sourdough that sells out by ten and a cardamom bun that I'd put against anything in Kreuzberg. For a sit-down thing, I've been spending evenings at the beer garden at Cafe am Neuen See in Tiergarten, though it's no secret, going on a Tuesday around seven means you actually get a table by the water. And if you ride a bike, the path along the Panke up through Bürgerpark Pankow is criminally underused, you can go almost to Buch without seeing another cyclist.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
