🍲 Must-Try Local Dishes
Start with poulet moambe, a rich chicken stew made with palm nut sauce, served with rice or fufu at most local eateries. Another staple is saka-saka, pounded cassava leaves cooked with palm oil and often paired with smoked fish or meat. For a quick bite, try beignets (fried dough balls) sold at roadside stalls for around 100 CFA each.

🍽️ Top Restaurants in Town
Chez Tantine, located on Avenue de la Paix near the central market, serves generous plates of grilled fish with plantains for 3,000 to 5,000 CFA. Le Relais Dolisie on Rue du Commerce offers a mix of Congolese and French dishes, with mains around 6,000 CFA. For a sit-down lunch, Restaurant Ma Loango near the train station has daily specials for 4,000 CFA.

🌮 Street Food Stalls
The area around the Grand Marché on Avenue de l'Indépendance is packed with vendors selling brochettes (grilled meat skewers) for 500 to 1,000 CFA each. In the evenings, head to the Carrefour de la Gare where you'll find stalls selling grilled fish and fried plantains until about 9 PM. Don't miss the roasted corn (maïs grillé) sold near the bus station for 200 CFA.

🍹 Drinks and Snacks
Fresh bissap (hibiscus juice) and ginger juice are sold at many street corners for 300 to 500 CFA per cup. For a sit-down drink, try Café de la Paix on Avenue de la Paix, which serves coffee and pastries from 7 AM to 7 PM. Local beer (Ngok or Primus) costs around 1,000 CFA at small bars like Bar Le Calao on Rue Mbochi.

🛒 Markets and Food Shopping
The Grand Marché is the best place to buy fresh produce, spices, and smoked fish, with prices negotiable. For imported goods and packaged foods, try the Supermarché Score on Avenue de la Paix, open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM. The Marché de Tié-Tié on the outskirts of town is smaller but has excellent fresh vegetables and fruits.

💰 Budget and Prices
Street food and small eateries are very affordable, with a full meal costing between 1,500 and 3,000 CFA. Mid-range restaurants charge around 5,000 to 8,000 CFA for a main dish, while upscale places like Le Relais Dolisie can go up to 12,000 CFA. A bottle of water costs 300 CFA, and a local beer is about 1,000 CFA.

🕒 Best Times to Eat
Lunch is the main meal of the day, served between 12 PM and 2 PM, and many restaurants close after that until dinner. Street food stalls are busiest in the evening from 6 PM to 9 PM, especially around the train station and Grand Marché. For breakfast, try the beignets and coffee sold at stalls near the central market from 6 AM.

🚌 Getting Around for Food
Most of the best food spots are concentrated in the city center, within walking distance of Avenue de la Paix and Avenue de l'Indépendance. For places farther out, like Marché de Tié-Tié, take a shared taxi (100 to 200 CFA) or a moto-taxi (300 to 500 CFA). The main taxi stand is near the Grand Marché, and rides are easy to find throughout the day.

Nice work mapping this out, though I'd swap the café for the maman who fries maboké by the roundabout.

Solid list. I'd add the little grilled tilapia stands past Carrefour de la Gare, cheaper than Chez Tantine and just as good. Also carry small bills, vendors rarely have change for 5,000.

Breakfast beignets peak around 6:30, after that they're cold.
