honestly this is a solid guide, esp the bit about the wholesale market near the museum. i'd add that the dongxing temple street food area is way better after 6pm when the stalls actually set up properly - went at 4pm once and it was dead quiet. also if youre into spicy food, the cold noodles from the old lady with the blue cart on ziyuan road are like 6 yuan and way better than the ones near the temple itself
one thing missing is the free shuttle bus between the dinosaur museum and the lantern museum on weekends during peak season. saves u the 2 yuan bus fare and runs every 20 mins from like 9am to 5pm. the bus stop is right outside the dinosaur museum exit, not the main entrance so keep an eye out
for the combo ticket, you can actually buy it at any of the two museums but the salt history museum line is usually shorter. also if you're a student make sure to bring your physical id card, the digital version on your phone didnt work for me last time
i'd add that the bus to the dinosaur museum from the train station is bus 306 and it drops you right at the main gate for 2 yuan, way cheaper than a taxi. also the salt history museum has a small tea house inside that does 5 yuan cups of local jasmine tea, nice break from walking around. the guide's right about the wholesale market but i found better deals on the second floor where they sell bulk snacks and dried chili peppers for like 3 yuan a bag

Booked a room in Zigong last October and the thing I'd flag is the breakfast situation, which the guide touches on but undersells. A lot of mid-range places advertise "breakfast included" and it turns out to be a coupon for a noodle shop next door, which is actually great, since Zigong's morning beef noodle bowls are the real draw anyway. Ask at check-in where the coupon works, because the front desk often forgets to mention it and you lose the value.
On location, everyone defaults to Wuxing Street but I'd look at the streets just south of the Salt Museum, around Shizi Kou, where you get the same walkability with less foot traffic at night. Also, if you're coming for the salt history specifically, the Shenhai Well in Da'an is worth a half day and pairs well with the dinosaur museum since they're on the same side of town, so a Da'an base for one night actually makes sense rather than treating it as a day trip from the center.
