good guide, covers the basics well. one thing it misses is the tea culture around here, zhuji's actually got some solid green tea plantations in the hills west of town. if you head out to shiliang village, about 30 mins by taxi, you can walk through the terraced fields and most farmers will let you sample their fresh pickings for free. the spring harvest in april is the best time, the leaves are super tender and you'll smell the roasting process from the road
for the pearl market, i'd add that the third floor has a few shops that do custom stringing while you wait. i had a necklace made last year for like 40 RMB labor and they did it in 15 minutes while i grabbed a coffee. brings cash for that, some of the smaller workshops don't take cards
the wuxie mountain tip about the hidden waterfall is legit, i've been there a few times and it's a solid detour. just watch your step on the way down, the rocks get slippery after rain and there's no railing in that section
solid guide, covers the main spots well. one thing i'd add is that Xishi's Hometown is worth paying the extra 20 RMB for the guided boat tour on the Huan River, it takes you under those old stone bridges and the guide tells you stories about the poetess that most people miss. also, if you're there around lunch, the little noodle shop just outside the east gate does a mean bowl of zhuji dry noodles for like 12 RMB, way better than the tourist trap restaurants inside
for getting around, the bus system is fine but honestly Didi is so cheap here that i just use it for everything except the mountain trips. a ride from the train station to the pearl market is like 15 RMB and saves you 20 minutes of waiting. just make sure your phone has the chinese app installed, the english version of Didi doesn't always work in smaller cities
and yeah, the night market on Jiyang is definitely the move for food. the grilled squid there is unreal, and they do these little fried dough balls with red bean paste that are perfect for dessert. bring cash though, some of the smaller stalls don't take WeChat pay
nice write up! one thing i'd say is that Wuxie Mountain is way better if you go on a weekday morning, weekends are packed with tour groups and you'll be stuck behind slow walkers on the narrow parts. also if you're fit, skip the main trail and take the left fork at the first pagoda, it's steeper but leads to a hidden waterfall that barely anyone knows about, locals call it the "dragon's tail" or something like that. bring bug spray though, the mosquitos up there are relentless

solid itinerary, you've got the main spots covered. if you're into photography, hit the confucian temple right when it opens at 8am, the light through the old cypress trees casts this greenish glow on the stone walls that's really nice. also on day 1, the puyang river walk is better if you go south from jiyang road towards the wenhua bridge, most people stick to the north stretch but the south side has fewer lights and you can actually hear the water
for day 3 at dongbai lake, there's a small temple called fuhai chan si tucked behind the main pagoda area, most tourists miss it cause the sign is hidden by bamboo. it's free and the monk there sometimes offers you oolong tea if he's around. just be quiet and respectful if you go in
one thing the guide doesn't mention is that zhuji gets really humid in summer, so bring a small towel and maybe a second shirt if you're hiking wuxie or dongbai. the sweat doesn't dry here like it does up north
honestly this is a solid itinerary, you've done your homework. one thing i'd tweak is swapping the zhuji forest park for the smaller but way more charming laohushan park instead. it's closer to the city center, free, and has these old stone steps that wind up to a little pavilion with a killer view of the whole city at sunset. the forest park is fine but it's a bit sprawling and the trails aren't as well marked
for day 2, the wuxie scenic area is great but it gets packed by 10am even on weekdays. if you can push your start to 7:30 you'll have the waterfalls mostly to yourself for the first hour. also the 80 rmb ticket is worth it but bring cash cause card machines there are hit or miss
the pearl market tip is spot on but dont go too late. some shops start closing around 8pm even if the building is open till 9. and on binjiang road theres a tiny dumpling shop called lao zhang jiaozi that does amazing pork and chive ones for like 12 rmb a dozen. way better than the food street stuff imo
This is a really well thought out plan. One thing I'd add is that on day one, if you're at Xishi's Hometown around lunch, skip the restaurants right at the gate and walk two blocks west to Renmin Road. There's a place called Yue Family Kitchen that does a better version of the steamed fish for about the same price, and they have this cold bamboo shoot salad that's perfect for the warmer months.
For day three at Dongbai Lake, the shuttle from the south bus station is fine, but if you can grab a Didi instead, it's only about 35 RMB and drops you right at the main entrance. The shuttle stops at the far side and you have to walk an extra 20 minutes around the edge to get to the good pagodas. Also, the tea garden you mentioned is decent, but the one up the hill past the lake's north gate, Yuqian Tea House, has a better tasting experience and the old lady who runs it will show you how they roast the leaves by hand.
