honestly this is a solid plan, I've done basically this route a few times. one thing I'd add is that Taierzhuang Ancient Town is way better at sunset, the lighting on the canals is gorgeous and it gets less crowded around 4pm. also for the spicy chicken, Laojie Yipin is good but if u want a more local vibe try the hole-in-the-wall spot on Qingtan Road near the old market, it's called Wang Ji, same price but the chicken is crispier imo.
for Weishan Lake, skip the big tour boats and grab a small fisherman's boat for like 40 RMB, they'll take u through the lotus patches and u get way closer to the birds. just haggle a bit at the dock.
oh and the night market on Wenhua Road, the grilled squid from the third stall from the east entrance is the best, they use a sweeter sauce than the others. bring small bills cuz some stalls get annoyed with big ones.

the guide's spot on about the metro not being ready yet, but the taxi situation is actually better than it sounds - i use didi (the local uber) and it's like 15-20 RMB to get anywhere in the city center, way easier than flagging one down on the street. for baodugu, there's a hidden temple at the top called xinglong si that most tourists miss, walk past the main viewing platform and follow the stone path up another 10 minutes, it's got these ancient cypress trees and a monk who sometimes offers tea if you're lucky. also if you're into photography, the sunrise over weishan lake from the east shore around 5am is unreal, the mist sits on the water and the lotus blooms open slowly, just bring bug spray

yeah the guide's got most of the bases covered. if you're into photography the canal reflections at taierzhuang are best right after a light rain when the stones are wet, the whole place glows. i went on a drizzly october morning and got some shots that looked like ink paintings
for the spicy chicken, skip the tourist spots in the old town and go to lao wang's on jiefang road in shizhong. it's a hole in the wall with like six tables but their version has this numbing pepper kick that lingers for hours. a whole chicken with rice runs about 45 RMB and they don't skimp on the chilies
the weishan lake ferry from the main pier is overpriced but the seafood market near the north dock is where the locals shop. you can buy live crabs for like 20 RMB a kilo in september and have them steamed at a stall for 5 RMB extra. just bring your own napkins cause they forget
the weishan lake tip is solid for spring but honestly the ferry can be a ripoff if you don't haggle a bit. i paid 40 RMB last time by walking down to the smaller pier near the village instead of the main tourist one. the lotus fields in july are insane, you can smell them before you see them.
for the dinosaur park, don't skip the outdoor track site behind the exhibition hall. most people just do the indoor part and leave, but the actual footprints are way cooler in the open air. bring mosquito spray though, the weeds back there are thick in summer.
one thing the guide missed is the railway museum in xuecheng district. it's small and dusty but has old steam locomotives you can climb into. free entry, just show your id at the gate.

if you're into trains at all the xuecheng railway museum is a hidden gem but the hours are weird, it closes at 4pm sharp and the old guy running it locks up early if nobody's around. i showed up at 3:45 once and he let me in but gave me the stink eye the whole time lol
also the baodugu forest park has this little temple at the top that most people miss cause the trail splits right before it. take the left fork past the big rock with the red paint and you'll find it, there's a monk there who sells cold tea for 2 RMB a cup, super refreshing after the hike
