🏯 Day 1: Old Town Core
Start at the Yucheng Railway Station and take bus K1 (15 minutes, 2 yuan) to the Old Town North Gate. Begin with the Confucian Temple on Fuxue Street, open 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, entry 30 yuan. Walk 10 minutes south to the Ming Dynasty City Wall for a 40-minute loop, then lunch at Lao Zhang's Noodle House on Xuanhua Road (bowls 12 to 18 yuan).

🏛️ Afternoon Museums and Streets
After lunch, visit the Yucheng Museum on Wenming Road (free, closed Mondays, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM). It's a 15-minute walk from the wall. Then wander the pedestrian Qianmen Street for local crafts; a rickshaw ride to the museum costs about 10 yuan. End the afternoon at the Grand Canal Viewing Platform, a 20-minute walk east, for photos.

🍜 Evening Food and Night Market
For dinner, head to the Night Market on Jiefang Road, open 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Try grilled squid skewers (5 yuan each) and Yucheng-style braised pork (25 yuan). After eating, catch a 10-minute taxi (8 yuan) to the Drum Tower for a 7:30 PM light show. Return to your hotel by 9:30 PM to rest for Day 2.

🌳 Day 2: West Lake and Gardens
Take bus 22 from the city center to West Lake Park (20 minutes, 2 yuan). Rent a paddle boat for 40 yuan per hour and explore the lotus ponds. At 11:00 AM, walk 15 minutes to the Yucheng Botanical Garden (entry 20 yuan) and have lunch at the garden's tea house (set meals 35 yuan).

🛕 Afternoon Temple and Pagoda
After lunch, taxi to the Iron Pagoda on Pagoda Street (10 minutes, 10 yuan). Entry is 25 yuan, and it's open until 5:00 PM. Climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city. Then walk 10 minutes to the nearby Song Dynasty Temple, which closes at 5:30 PM and charges 15 yuan.

🎭 Evening Cultural Show
Book tickets for the Yucheng Impressions show at the Grand Theater on Binhe Road (80 to 150 yuan). The show runs from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Arrive by 7:00 PM to get good seats. After the show, grab a late snack at the nearby night stalls on Binhe Road (skewers from 3 yuan).

🚌 Day 3: East District and Departure
Start early with bus 5 to the East District (25 minutes, 2 yuan). Visit the Yucheng Art Museum (free, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM) and then the adjacent Modern History Museum (10 yuan). Have lunch at the East District Food Court (meals 20 to 30 yuan).

🛍️ Last-Minute Shopping and Transit
Spend the afternoon at the Yucheng Shopping Mall on Dongfeng Road for souvenirs like local pastries (box 25 yuan). From there, take a taxi to the railway station (15 minutes, 12 yuan) or bus K3 (20 minutes, 2 yuan). Allow at least 1 hour before your train departs. If you have time, the station's left luggage office charges 10 yuan per bag.

Nice work pulling the bus numbers and prices together, that's usually where these guides fall apart and yours holds up. One angle nobody's mentioned: the Confucian Temple has a calligraphy market in the side courtyard on Sunday mornings, old guys selling brushes and ink stones, worth a look even if you don't buy.

On Day 3, the Modern History Museum is free on the 18th of each month, which is random but handy if your trip lands there. And for the light show at the Drum Tower, the rooftop of the teahouse across the square gives you a cleaner view than standing in the crowd, you just need to order something, a pot of tea runs about 20 yuan.

The Qianmen Street rickshaw tip is good, though I'd haggle, they start at 15 and settle at 10 if you walk away once.

the day 2 west lake bit is right but worth knowing the paddle boats stop renting at 4pm even though the park stays open later, so dont save it for late afternoon like i did. also the tea house set meal is fine but the little stalls just outside the botanical garden gate do jianbing for like 8 yuan that honestly hit better after all that walking.

one thing the guide skips: day 3 timing is tight if ur train is before 2pm. the art museum and history museum are small but u can easily lose 2 hrs, and the east district food court gets slammed noon to 1. id flip it, do the mall first for pastries since they open at 10, then museums after lunch when it quiets down

the left luggage tip is real tho, used it last spring, 10 yuan a bag and they dont fuss about the hours

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

good effort putting all this together, the bus numbers & prices are mostly spot on which is more than most guides manage

one thing i'd add for day 2: the west lake lotus ponds are best in early morning, like before 8, because by 10 the tour groups from the hotels show up and the paddle boat queue gets long. i usually grab breakfast near the south entrance, there's a stall doing doujiang & youtiao for 5 yuan that opens around 6:30

also the song dynasty temple is technically free on the first wednesday of the month if ur dates line up, they dont advertise it but the ticket window just waves u through. saved me 15 yuan last trip

🗺️ Day 1 Overview
Start your first day in the city center, where most historic sites are clustered. Plan to arrive at Yucheng Railway Station by 9:00 AM, then take a 10-minute taxi to your hotel near People's Square. This area is walkable and has plenty of breakfast options.

🏛️ Morning: Historic Core
Visit the Yucheng Confucian Temple at 9:30 AM, located at 12 Wenmiao Road. Admission is 30 CNY, and it opens daily from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Spend about 1.5 hours here before walking five minutes to the Ancient City Wall, which offers great views of the old town.

🍜 Lunch: Local Eats
Head to Laojie Food Street, a 10-minute walk from the wall, for a bowl of Yucheng lamian (hand-pulled noodles) at Lao Wang Noodle House. A bowl costs around 15 CNY, and the shop is open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Try the spicy beef version for a local favorite.

🏞️ Afternoon: Parks and Museums
Take a 15-minute bus (route 6, 2 CNY) to Yucheng Museum at 88 Renmin Road, which is free and open from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Afterward, stroll through the adjacent East Lake Park, a peaceful green space with a small pagoda. The park is open until 6:00 PM.

🌃 Evening: Night Market
From the park, walk 20 minutes to the Yucheng Night Market on Huayuan Street, which starts buzzing around 6:30 PM. Sample grilled skewers (5-10 CNY each) and stinky tofu (8 CNY). The market stays lively until 11:00 PM, and it's a great spot for souvenir shopping.

🚌 Day 2: Getting Around
Day 2 focuses on the western suburbs, so take bus 12 from the city center to the Western Cultural Zone, a 30-minute ride (3 CNY). Buses run every 10 minutes from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Alternatively, a taxi costs about 25 CNY and takes 20 minutes.

⛩️ Morning: Temple Complex
Arrive at the Western Temple Complex (No. 1 West Temple Road) by 9:00 AM. The complex includes three temples and a pagoda; the combined ticket is 50 CNY. Allow 2 hours to explore the intricate carvings and peaceful courtyards. It opens at 8:30 AM.

🛍️ Afternoon: Art and Shopping
Walk 10 minutes to the Yucheng Art District at 200 West Avenue, where galleries and craft shops line the streets. Many studios offer free entry and are open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Pick up a hand-painted fan for around 40 CNY as a unique souvenir.

🍲 Evening: Hotpot Dinner
For dinner, take a 15-minute taxi (20 CNY) to Little Sheep Hotpot at 55 East Street, a popular chain with a branch in Yucheng. A meal for two costs about 120 CNY, and they serve until 10:00 PM. The spicy broth is a local favorite, but mild options are available.

🌄 Day 3: Nature Escape
Your final day is a half-day trip to Yucheng Mountain, 30 minutes east of the city by taxi (50 CNY). Start early at 8:00 AM to avoid crowds. The mountain has a cable car (40 CNY one-way) and hiking trails; the summit offers panoramic views of the region.

🍃 Late Morning: Tea Plantation
On the way back, stop at the Yucheng Tea Plantation at the mountain's base, open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Join a free guided tour to see tea processing, then sample fresh green tea. A bag of tea leaves costs around 60 CNY and makes a great gift.

🚄 Departure Tips
From the plantation, take a 20-minute taxi (40 CNY) directly to Yucheng Railway Station. Allow at least 30 minutes for security and boarding. If you have extra time, grab a quick lunch at the station's food court, where noodle bowls start at 20 CNY.

solid plan, especially hitting laojie food street day one. if u go to lao wang for the lamian, get there right at 11am, the line gets long fast and they sell out of the spicy beef by 12:30 most days. also on day 2, the art district is cool but the gallery at no. 47 west avenue has a back room with older ink paintings that most tourists miss, the owner will let u look for free if u ask.

This is a solid itinerary, really captures the main spots. One thing I'd add is that if you go to the night market on Huayuan Street, the grilled tofu stall at the very north end, Old Chen's, is usually better than what you'll find in the middle section. Their chili oil is homemade and has a bit more kick.

For the tea plantation on day three, the free tour is fine but they'll try to sell you the pricier 80 CNY bags at the end. The 60 CNY ones are the same quality, just in a smaller package. I've bought both and the difference is only the box size.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

good itinerary, covers the bases well. for the confucian temple, if you go around 10am on a weekday you'll prob have the place almost to yourself, the tour groups dont show up til 11 or so. also theres a small calligraphy studio tucked behind the east hall, the old guy there will let you try writing a character for like 5 yuan, its a nice break from just looking at stuff.

on day 3, the cable car up yucheng mountain is fine but honestly the hike is better if youre in decent shape. takes about 45 minutes up, the trail starts just past the ticket booth and theres a pavilion halfway with a great view over the tea fields. just bring water, theres no stalls on the trail.
