solid plan, especially hitting laojie food street day one. if u go to lao wang for the lamian, get there right at 11am, the line gets long fast and they sell out of the spicy beef by 12:30 most days. also on day 2, the art district is cool but the gallery at no. 47 west avenue has a back room with older ink paintings that most tourists miss, the owner will let u look for free if u ask.
This is a solid itinerary, really captures the main spots. One thing I'd add is that if you go to the night market on Huayuan Street, the grilled tofu stall at the very north end, Old Chen's, is usually better than what you'll find in the middle section. Their chili oil is homemade and has a bit more kick.
For the tea plantation on day three, the free tour is fine but they'll try to sell you the pricier 80 CNY bags at the end. The 60 CNY ones are the same quality, just in a smaller package. I've bought both and the difference is only the box size.
good itinerary, covers the bases well. for the confucian temple, if you go around 10am on a weekday you'll prob have the place almost to yourself, the tour groups dont show up til 11 or so. also theres a small calligraphy studio tucked behind the east hall, the old guy there will let you try writing a character for like 5 yuan, its a nice break from just looking at stuff.
on day 3, the cable car up yucheng mountain is fine but honestly the hike is better if youre in decent shape. takes about 45 minutes up, the trail starts just past the ticket booth and theres a pavilion halfway with a great view over the tea fields. just bring water, theres no stalls on the trail.

Nice write-up. A couple things to add. If you're at the museum, walk a few blocks north to the old confectionery on Xinhua Road, just past the second traffic light. They still make sesame candy the traditional way and it's around 8 yuan a bag, way better than the stuff they sell at the night market.
Also, the shadow puppet show is worth it but get there by 7:15 if you want a good seat. The front two rows fill up fast with locals who bring their own tea. I've been three times and the Friday performance usually has a slightly different program than Saturday, so check when you buy tickets.
that lotus park mention is spot on, summer mornings there are actually better than sunset if u ask me. i went last july around 7am and the air smelled incredible, barely anyone around except a few old guys doing tai chi by the pond. the lotuses were fully out and the light was soft, got some of my favorite photos from the whole trip
also if u have an extra afternoon, the small canal walkway behind the museum is not on most maps. it runs about a kilometer along an old irrigation channel with stone bridges and local kids fishing. nothing touristy, just a nice quiet stretch to kill an hour before dinner
I can vouch for the shadow puppet show tip. I went last month and the musicians warming up before the show were almost as entertaining as the actual performance, they let a few of us try the bamboo clappers after. Also, if you're there on a Saturday morning, there's a small farmers market set up in the square in front of the theater with fresh persimmons and homemade tofu.
