one thing the guide doesn't mention is the mingyue mountain hot spring foot bath area near the base, it's like 30 yuan and you just sit by the stream dipping your feet, way cheaper than the full resort if you're on a budget or short on time. i did that after the hike last fall and it was perfect, they have little benches set up along the water.

the guide's right about the pedestrian street being fine but honestly the real gem is the small antique market that pops up on sunday mornings near the wuzhou bridge, like 7am to noon. you'll find old porcelain shards and vintage tea sets for like 10-50 yuan, nothing super valuable but great souvenirs
for the bamboo sea, if you're there when it's raining lightly that's actually the best time, the mist makes everything look magical and there's way fewer people. bring a waterproof jacket though, the bamboo doesn't block the rain well
also the museum's free but they have a small gift shop inside that sells legit yichun green tea in those little tins for 35 yuan, way more convenient than hunting down a shop later. i grab one every time i visit family there
