honestly the old street food market on zhongshan road is great but if you want the real deal head to the small alley behind the yichun hotel around 6 PM, that's where the locals eat. there's this one stall run by an auntie who does the best stir-fried pork with dried bamboo shoots i've had anywhere, only 15 rmb a plate. she's been there for like 20 years so just look for the line of people
also for the antique market on jiefang road don't bother going before 10 AM, most stalls are still setting up and the early birds are mostly resellers picking through stuff. go around 2 PM when it's quieter and you can actually chat with the vendors, I got a nice celadon teacup for 40 rmb after some back and forth
I've done the Sanqing Mountain day trip a few times and I'd actually suggest staying overnight if you can swing it. There's a basic guesthouse at the base for about 200 rmb and getting on the trails by 7 AM means you'll have the place almost to yourself before the tour buses roll in around 10. The sunrise from the West Coast stack is something else.
For the Yichun Museum, those Tuesday to Sunday hours are accurate but they close for lunch from 12 to 1:30, which the guide didn't mention. I showed up at 12:15 once and had to kill time at the tea shop across the street. The propaganda posters from the 1960s on the second floor are worth waiting for though.
