solid list, really captures the city well. one thing i'd add is the Tangshan Museum on Xinhua Road, it's smaller than the earthquake one but has a great section on the old mining history and industrial development. free entry and usually quiet, took me about an hour to go through. also if you're driving to the Qing Tombs, the highway toll is around 30 yuan each way and there's a decent noodle place just outside the entrance gate, the beef noodles are like 18 yuan and they give you a generous portion. the steam train thing is fun but honestly the schedule is more of a suggestion than a rule, i waited almost an hour past the posted time once

It's not as famous as the tombs but the hiking trails there are quiet and the views over the reservoir are nice. There's a small temple complex at the base that most tourists skip. Just be aware that the road up can be rough in spots, a regular car handles it fine but you'll want to take it slow. Also, the dumpling places in Lubei District are indeed the real deal, the ones on Fuxing Road near the old market have a slightly thicker wrapper that holds the broth better in my experience.

honestly the south lake area is great during the day but the guide doesnt mention how good the night market is near the nanhu international convention center on weekends. they set up these food stalls around 6pm with grilled squid and those sesame cakes the guide mentioned, cheaper than the pedestrian street too like 15-20 yuan for a full meal. also for digital nomads caofeidian is a bit isolated tbh, the coworking space is nice but theres barely any coffee shops nearby so stock up if u need caffeine. i stayed at the tangshan youth hostel near the station once and it was fine but the walls are thin so bring earplugs if ur a light sleeper
