Solid plan, I've done this a few times when friends visit. The museum on day 2 is a good call, it's small but the Three Gorges model is surprisingly detailed for a free entry spot. One thing I'd add for Wudang Mountain: if you're fit and the weather is clear, skip the cable car down and walk the Ancient Divine Path instead. It takes about an hour but you pass those old stone gates and a few quiet temples that most people miss because they're zipping past on the gondola. Just watch your step near the top, some of those stairs are uneven after rain.

For day 3, the reservoir cruise is fine but I actually prefer walking the dam itself at sunset if you can time it right. The light hitting the water is better than the midday glare, and there's way fewer people. The grilled fish skewers near the entrance are a solid tip from the other reply, I'd just add that the guy sets up around 11am and runs out by 1pm on weekends, so go early if you want the good ones.

honestly this is a really well thought out itinerary, props for including the museum on day 2 since most people skip it. the three gorges exhibit is small but they have this old map of the river before the dam that's wild to see in person. if you're at sheshan park and want a better view than the hilltop, walk to the east side where there's a tiny pavilion most tourists miss, it looks right over the old train tracks and the mountains behind them

for day 3 i'd swap the lakeside restaurant for grabbing some street food at the little market near the dam entrance instead. there's a guy who does grilled fish skewers for like 8 rmb each and they're way better than the sit-down places, plus you can eat them while walking the dam. also the bus back from danjiangkou can get packed around 4pm so if you can catch the 3:30 one you'll have a seat and still make it back before dark

yo this is a solid plan, i've done almost this exact route before. one thing to flag wudang mountain will be way more crowded than u think even at 8am, i'd try to catch the first cable car at 7:30 if u can. also laoyou noodle house is legit but their chili oil is no joke, go easy unless u want to sweat through nanyan palace lol. skip starbucks by the bus station and hit the little tea shop two doors down instead, they do a better local green tea for like 8 rmb and the old lady running it is super nice. for day 3 the reservoir cruise is worth it but bring a jacket even in summer, it gets windy out on the water

the maojian south tip is solid but i'd add that the area around shiyan museum is actually a great spot for families even if you're not staying at the marriott. there's a little park right behind it with those pedal boats on the lake, my niece loved that more than the actual museum exhibits. also the museum itself is free which is nice.

for transit connections, bus 4 is reliable but bus 5 can be a gamble during rush hour. i wait for 4 every time even if it takes longer because 5 sometimes just skips stops if its full. taxi from the station to renmin road is more like 25-35 yuan depending on traffic, closer to 25 if you go after 9pm.

Maojian District is solid but I'd actually recommend looking at the area around Shiyan Railway Station instead of the high-speed rail station if you're on a budget. There are a few older but well-maintained hotels like the Shiyan Railway Hotel where rooms go for 120-150 CNY, and the night market on Zhanqian Road has the best stinky tofu I've found in the city. The train station itself is less flashy than the high-speed one but bus 4 starts there so you still get good connections.

One thing the guide doesn't mention is that many hotels in the Economic Zone near the high-speed rail station have noise issues from the construction that's been going on for the last couple years. I'd call ahead and ask for a room facing away from the street if you're booking there.

ngl the wudang mountain base tip is the move if you're serious about hiking. i stayed at a little place called shanju kezhan near the east gate for 160 yuan a night and it was way quieter than the main entrance area. the trail up to the golden hall from that side is steeper but way less crowded, and you can grab a bowl of doupi from a cart at the trailhead for like 5 yuan before you start

also if you're in maojian and craving something sweet, theres a tiny tanghulu stall on the corner of renmin and dongfeng that does candied hawthorn on a stick for 8 yuan. better than any of the fancy dessert places near the mall imo
