the guide's spot on about zhengding but if you're there don't skip the four pagodas trail - it's a short walk between them and each one has a totally different style from tang to ming dynasty. also the muslim street market is great but i'd add that the tangshan hotpot places on huaibei road are where locals actually go for a proper dinner, way less touristy and the broth is richer. for a quieter evening than century park, try the chang'an park instead, it's smaller but has a nice lotus pond and way fewer crowds after 7pm
yeah the guide's solid but i'd add that if you're into photography the hebei museum has this massive bronze sacrificial vessel in the main hall that catches the afternoon light perfectly around 3pm. also for the muslim street market, the stall second from the corner on huimin road does a lamb offal soup that's way better than the skewers imo, costs like 15 kuai and they'll give you extra bread if you go before 7. one thing the guide didn't mention is the old train station district on zhongshan road, it's been turned into a pedestrian zone with some decent coffee shops and a few vintage stores, nice for a lazy afternoon
