ngl the guide nails it but misses one of my favorite spots. there's a stall near the old bus station on Shaoyang Avenue that does a killer stinky tofu with this fermented chili oil that's different from the usual street version. it's crispier on the outside, softer inside, and they serve it with a side of pickled cabbage that cuts the heat. only 6 yuan for a big plate and they're open from 4 PM to midnight.
also for the tea houses, Qing Feng is nice but if you want something more lowkey try the little shop on the second floor above the pharmacy at 72 Dongfeng Road. no sign in English, just a red lantern out front. they do a jasmine pearl tea for 20 yuan and the owner lets you sit as long as you want, even brings out free sunflower seeds sometimes.
This is a solid guide, really captures the essentials. I'd add that the blood tofu at Xiao Xiang Ge is worth ordering even if you're just there for the hot pot, it's a different preparation than what you get at the stalls, richer and more velvety.
For a morning bowl, I actually prefer the mifen at a tiny place called Chen Ji near the North Gate over Lao Ma Ji. It's not on Hongqi Road, it's tucked into a side alley off Renmin Road, and they use a fermented soybean paste in the broth that gives it a deeper flavor. Bowl is about 11 CNY and they're usually sold out by 11 AM.
The Ziyun Street night market is great, but the real hidden gem is the morning market at the corner of Shaoshui and Jiefang Road. They sell fresh youtiao straight from the oil and a sticky rice roll with pickled radish that I haven't seen anywhere else in the city.
good list, covers the basics well. if you're into the blood tofu thing, the version at the night market is way different from what you get in restaurants. there's a stall near the south end of ziyun street, just past the intersection with shaoshui, that does it grilled on a flat iron with cumin and chili powder. it gets this crispy skin on the outside while staying soft inside, 4 yuan a skewer. way better than the clay pot version if you ask me.
one thing the guide doesn't mention is the cold noodle scene in summer. there's a spot on jiefang road called liang pi wang that does a sesame sauce and cucumber noodle dish that's insanely refreshing. only 8 yuan for a big bowl, they're usually packed by noon. the owner makes the noodles fresh every morning, you can see them hanging in the window.

solid guide, covers all the bases without being too packed which is smart for shaoyang. one thing i'd flag is that the ancient city wall section near the zi river has a little teahouse tucked into one of the watchtowers, it's run by an old couple and they serve a really good local green tea for like 5 yuan a pot, perfect spot to rest after the morning walk. also for day 2, if you're at langshan and the tianyi lane queue looks long, there's a less crowded alternative route up the back of the peak that starts near the fuyi river ferry point, the locals use it and it cuts out about 30 minutes of waiting. on day 3, the dongkou old town has a small workshop on the main lane that makes bamboo flutes by hand, the guy will let you try them and they're cheap souvenirs at 15-20 yuan each, way more unique than the generic stuff on hongqi road
these are all good suggestions already so i'll just add that the ziyun park pagoda actually has a small temple at its base that most tourists walk right past. the monk there is super chill and will let you ring the big bell for free if you ask nicely, it echoes across the whole park. also for day 2, the bus back from langshan sometimes stops at a random noodle shop about halfway, the driver will announce it and everyone piles out for 15 minutes. the noodles there are only 8 yuan and the broth is smoky from a charcoal fire, way better than the restaurant near the entrance. the pedestrian street on hongqi road for souvenirs is fine but there's a tiny shop on the side alley next to the wumart where an old lady sells hand-embroidered pouches for 10 yuan each, she's usually there until 8pm and the quality is actually good
This is a well thought out plan, you've covered the main spots without rushing. One thing I'd suggest on day one is to stop by the small wonton shop on Minzhu Road just south of the park, it's called Chen Ji and they do a fantastic wonton soup for 8 yuan. For day two, I'd actually skip the cable car and hike all the way up Jiaozi Peak, the trail is steep but you get to see some hidden pavilions and the effort makes the view feel earned. Also, if you have time on day three, ask your driver to take the old road back from Nanshan through the mountains, there's a viewpoint about 20 minutes out that looks over the whole valley and it's not marked on any map.
