for the free hikes, the bamboo forest trails are nice but if you're up for a longer walk the path along the north side of the river from the qingyuan bridge to the niuyuzui park is completely free and has great views of the water, takes about an hour. the transit app works well but sometimes glitches on android, i just use the paper maps at bus stops instead
