i'm heading to qingyuan in about 6 months and trying to figure out the best way to get around. should i rely on buses or is renting a car the move for exploring the hot springs and countryside? i'm heading to qingyuan in about 6 months and trying to figure out the best way to get around. should i rely on buses or is renting a car the move for exploring the hot springs and countryside?

May is a good time for it, weather's warm but not scorching yet. I'd actually suggest doing a car rental for at least a couple of days, especially if you want to hit the hot springs around Qingxin or the quieter villages near Lianzhou. The buses to those spots only run a few times a day and you'll waste half your afternoon waiting for the return trip. Just watch out for the toll roads, they add up quick if you're not paying attention to the GPS.

honestly for qingyuan in may you're better off with a mix of both. buses are cheap and get u to the main spots like the old town area but they're not super frequent out to the hot springs near yingde. renting a car gives u way more freedom to hit places like the feilaixia gorge or the small countryside villages but be warned the roads can get pretty narrow once u leave the main highways. if u do rent, get a small car cuz parking in town is tight and some of those mountain roads are a bit sketchy

id just uber honestly lol. cheaper than renting and u dont have to deal with the narrow roads yourself
