yeah the guide's solid but one thing they missed is the breakfast scene near the old city wall, there's this old uncle who sells peanut soup with youtiao from 6am to 9am, it's like 4 yuan for a bowl and he's been there for decades. also for dim sum i'd skip chaozhou teahouse on weekends and go to lao fujian on dongda road instead, their xiaolongbao are actually made in-house and the wait's shorter. if you're doing the night market, the grilled oysters at stall 7 are better than stall 12's squid imo, they use garlic butter and it's 12 yuan for three
the guide's spot on about wenxian road night market but don't sleep on the fried taro cakes at the stall near the middle fountain, they're only 8 yuan and way better than the ones at wanda. also if you're hitting haixian lou for crab, ask for the live ones from the tank not the pre-steamed, it's worth the extra 20 yuan. for a cheaper seafood fix, try the clams in rice wine at the family-run place on xueyuan street, it's like 40 yuan a portion and tastes just as good
honestly the guide nailed the basics but they left out one of my fave spots - there's a tiny hole-in-the-wall on Meizhou Avenue near the old fish market that does this insane putian stir-fried rice noodles with razor clams and chinese celery, it's like 18 yuan and the wok hei flavor is unreal. the place has no english sign just a red banner with yellow characters, you'll know it by the queue of aunties around noon. also for vegetarians lianhua is great but if you want something more casual the buddhist temple on guanghua road has a simple vegetarian canteen open 11-1 that does a 15 yuan set with braised gluten and pickled veggies, no mock meat but really fresh. one thing nobody mentioned - bring cash to the night market stalls, a few of them don't take wechat pay and the atm nearby is always broken

solid itinerary, covered the main spots well. for day 3, if you've got the energy, instead of heading straight back from nanri island at 4pm, grab a late lunch at one of the seafood places right on the dock. they'll cook whatever the boats brought in that morning, and it's way cheaper than the tourist restaurants further inland. also worth knowing that the route 366 bus can be infrequent on sundays, sometimes only once an hour after 2pm, so check the schedule at the south bus station before you go or you might be waiting a while
Really nice work on this itinerary, it's well paced and hits the right notes. One thing I'd add is that if you're around Guanghua Temple around lunchtime, there's a vegetarian restaurant inside the temple grounds that most tourists miss. It's run by the monks and they do a simple but excellent noodle soup with local mushrooms for about 10 CNY, and the courtyard seating is a nice break from the heat.
For day 2, instead of going straight back to central Putian from Shuangfeng Temple, I'd suggest getting off the Route 208 bus a few stops early at the Dongqiao stop and walking through the old canal neighborhood. There's a small bridge there from the Song Dynasty and a few old ladies selling freshly made peanut candy from their doorsteps, which is a nice souvenir and costs almost nothing.
Also worth mentioning that the Putian Museum has a really good exhibition on maritime silk road ceramics on the second floor, with pieces recovered from local shipwrecks. It's easy to skip that room but it's the best part of the museum in my opinion.
yo this is a solid itinerary, really covers the bases well. one thing i'd add is that the Meizhou Island ferry can get absolutely packed on weekends and during Mazu festivals, so if you're there on a saturday aim for the 7am boat to avoid the chaos. also the braised noodles at Lao Ma are legit but ngl the oyster omelets on Hanjiang Old Street are even better imo, there's this tiny stall near the east gate that does them crispy with that sweet chili sauce.
