πŸ—ΊοΈ Arrival and Orientation
Panshi is a county-level city in Jilin Province, served by Panshi Railway Station on the Shenji Railway line. From the station, taxis to the city center cost around 10 to 15 yuan and take about 10 minutes. Most hotels cluster along Fuxing Road and Renmin Road, so pick one there to minimize daily transit. Start your trip with a stroll around Panshi Square to get your bearings.

⛰️ Day 1 Morning: Guanma Mountain
Begin Day 1 at Guanma Mountain Scenic Area, about 5 kilometers east of downtown. A taxi from the city center takes 15 minutes and costs roughly 20 yuan. The entrance fee is 50 yuan, and the site opens at 8:00 AM. Hike the main trail for panoramic views of the surrounding plains, and allow 3 hours for the loop.

🍜 Day 1 Afternoon: Local Flavors
After descending, head back to the city center for lunch at a local restaurant on Fuxing Road. Try Panshi's specialty, braised pork with vermicelli, for about 30 yuan per person. Then visit the Panshi Museum on Renmin Road, which is free and open from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM (closed Mondays). It offers a concise overview of the region's history and culture.

🌳 Day 2 Morning: Beishan Park
Spend Day 2 morning at Beishan Park, a 20-minute walk from the city center or a 5-minute taxi ride (around 8 yuan). The park is free and opens at 6:00 AM. Walk the lakeside path, rent a paddle boat for 30 yuan per hour, and enjoy the quiet atmosphere. It's a favorite spot for locals doing morning exercises.

πŸ›οΈ Day 2 Afternoon: Shopping Streets
After lunch, explore the shopping area around Renmin Road and Xinhua Street. This is the main commercial district, with department stores, boutiques, and street vendors. Prices are reasonable: a T-shirt costs 50 to 100 yuan, and souvenirs like local honey go for 20 yuan per jar. Most shops stay open until 9:00 PM.

πŸŒƒ Day 2 Evening: Night Market
In the evening, visit the night market on Xinhua Street, which starts around 6:00 PM. Sample grilled skewers (2 yuan each), fried noodles (10 yuan), and sweet potato snacks (5 yuan). The market is lively until about 10:00 PM. It's a great place to mingle with locals and try regional street food.

🏞️ Day 3 Morning: Yalu River Source
On Day 3, take a day trip to the Yalu River Source Scenic Area, about 40 kilometers from Panshi. A taxi or hired car takes 1 hour and costs around 150 yuan one way. The entrance fee is 60 yuan, and it opens at 8:30 AM. The area features a small waterfall and a peaceful forest walk, perfect for a half-day outing.

🚌 Day 3 Afternoon: Return and Departure
Return to Panshi by 2:00 PM and have a late lunch near the bus station. If you're departing by train, Panshi Railway Station is centrally located; trains to Changchun run every 2 hours and take about 2 hours. For buses, the main bus station on Zhanqian Road has frequent services to Jilin City. Allow 30 minutes to get to the station from downtown.

solid writeup, covers the main stuff well. one thing i'd add is the early morning food situation, most of the breakfast stalls around Panshi Square don't really get going till like 6:30 but the youtiao and doujiang carts on the north side are worth hitting before you head to Guanma Mountain. also fwiw the taxi to Yalu River Source, ask the driver to wait or swap numbers, because getting a ride back from there is a pain, there's basically nothing around the entrance. i'd prob just hire a car for the whole half day instead.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

good writeup, the guanma mountain timing is spot on, 3 hrs is about right if u dont rush the loop

one thing i'd flag is the museum hours. that 1 to 4:30 window is tight and they sometimes close the upstairs exhibit rooms early if its quiet, like 3:30ish. i showed up at 3:45 once and got shuffled out. go right at 1 if the history stuff matters to u

also for the yalu river source, 150 one way is on the low side in 2026, most drivers quote 180 to 200 now with gas where its at. and bring cash, the little stalls near the entrance dont do wechat pay reliably, signal is patchy out there

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

the writeup's got the logistics down well, but nobody's mentioned the bus situation for day 3. if you're going to the yalu river source and dont want to blow 200 on a taxi, there's a morning minibus from the zhanqian road station toward changbai that drops you near the turnoff, maybe 25 yuan, but it leaves around 6:40 and only runs a couple times. coming back is the gamble though, you're basically flagging down whatever passes

also on guanma mountain, wear real shoes not sneakers. the upper trail gets slick after rain and the handrails are rusted through in spots. saw two people eat it on the descent last october

the braised pork with vermicelli call is correct btw, that's the one dish worth planning a meal around

Panshi is surrounded by stunning natural scenery, and a great place to start is the Panshi National Forest Park, open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an entrance fee of 60 yuan. The park features well-marked hiking trails that range from easy walks to more challenging climbs, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. For a more relaxed experience, head to the Panshi Lake Scenic Area, where you can rent a boat for about 100 yuan per hour and enjoy the tranquil waters. Insider tip: visit on weekdays to avoid the crowds, and bring your own snacks as there are limited food options inside.

πŸ›οΈ Discover Local History
The Panshi Museum, located at 123 Culture Road, provides a comprehensive overview of the region's history from ancient times to the present. It's open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and admission is free. Don't miss the special exhibition on the Qing Dynasty's influence in the area, which runs until the end of 2026. For a more immersive experience, visit the Panshi Ancient Town, where you can wander through preserved architecture and see traditional crafts being made.

🍜 Savor Local Flavors
Panshi's food scene is a highlight for many visitors, with local specialties that reflect the region's agricultural heritage. Be sure to try the Panshi tofu, known for its silky texture, at the Old Street Tofu House (45 Old Street, open 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, mains around 30 yuan). Another must-visit is the Night Market on Binhe Road, which comes alive after 6:00 PM with stalls selling grilled meats, noodles, and sweet treats. For a sit-down meal, the Panshi Roast Duck Restaurant near the train station offers a half duck for 80 yuan and is popular with locals.

🚴 Get Active Outdoors
If you're looking to stay active, Panshi offers plenty of options. The Riverside Cycling Path stretches for 15 kilometers along the Panshi River and is perfect for a leisurely ride; bike rentals are available near the main bridge for 20 yuan per hour. In winter, the Panshi Ice Rink at the Sports Center (open from December to February, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, entry 40 yuan) is a favorite among locals. For a more challenging hike, try the Dragon's Back Trail, which starts at the end of Mountain View Road and takes about three hours round-trip.

🎭 Experience Cultural Events
Panshi hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year that are worth planning your trip around. The Panshi Lantern Festival in February fills the streets with colorful displays and performances, while the Summer Music Festival in July features local bands and food stalls. Check the Panshi Cultural Center (78 Art Street) for weekly performances, including traditional opera and dance shows; tickets are usually 50 yuan and can be purchased at the door. Insider tip: the center's schedule is posted online, but it's often in Chinese, so ask your hotel for assistance.

πŸ›οΈ Shop for Souvenirs
For unique souvenirs, head to the Panshi Handicraft Market on weekends, located near the central square. You'll find handmade textiles, pottery, and wood carvings, with prices ranging from 20 to 200 yuan. The Panshi Tea Shop (12 Tea Lane) sells locally grown green tea and offers tastings; a 100-gram pack costs about 50 yuan. Remember to bargain politely at the market, as prices are often negotiable.

πŸŒƒ Enjoy Evening Entertainment
When the sun sets, Panshi offers a variety of evening activities. The Night Market on Binhe Road is not just for food; you can also find games and small performances. For a more relaxed evening, take a stroll along the illuminated Riverside Promenade, which is especially beautiful after 8:00 PM. If you're interested in nightlife, the Panshi Jazz Club (56 Music Street) hosts live bands on Friday and Saturday nights, with a cover charge of 30 yuan.

🚌 Navigate Like a Local
Getting around Panshi is easy and affordable. The city bus system covers most attractions, with fares at 2 yuan per ride; you can pay with cash or a transportation card available at convenience stores. Taxis start at 8 yuan for the first 3 kilometers, and ride-hailing apps like Didi are widely used. For a scenic option, consider renting a bike for 20 yuan per day from one of the many rental stations around town.

nice rundown, covers way more than most panshi posts do. one thing i'd add on the food side, the tofu house on old street is great but if u walk 5 min further to the little morning market off xinhua lu there's an auntie selling doujiang & youtiao from like 6 to 9am, costs 6 yuan total & beats any sit down breakfast. also the roast duck place near the station, half duck for 80 is fair but ask for the bones fried up after, they do it for free if u ask, most tourists never do

on getting around, buses are 2 yuan yeah but the last one on most lines is around 8:30pm so if ur out at the night market past that its didi or walk, the riverside promenade back to the center is lit & safe so its actually a nice 20 min walk

Solid guide, though I'd flag a couple of timing issues. The Panshi Museum being free is true, but the Qing Dynasty exhibition actually closes for a two week rotation in early September, so check before you build a trip around it. And the Night Market on Binhe Road is much better on Friday and Saturday than midweek, half the stalls pack up by Tuesday when it's quiet. One thing the post doesn't mention that's worth your time is the early morning tai chi crowd at Panshi Lake around 6am, mostly retirees, very welcoming if you want to join in, no fee or anything.

Good writeup, covers the main stuff well. One thing I'd add: the Dragon's Back Trail gets muddy for a week or two after rain, so wear shoes with grip and check the forecast before you commit to the three hours. Also the tea tastings at Panshi Tea Shop are free, but they'll push the pricier spring harvest on you, the 50 yuan pack is honestly just as good for taking home. If you're there in winter, the ice rink gets packed after 6pm on weekends, go right when it opens at 10.
