the peking opera season at linfen grand theatre is honestly underrated. i caught a show last november and even without understanding the lyrics, the drumming alone is worth it. but the real tip is to buy the 80 rmb tickets, not the pricier ones. the theatre is small enough that even the back rows give you a clear view of the stage, and the acoustics are solid. also, the box office opens at 10 am but the line gets long after lunch, so go right at opening if u want a saturday seat.
