πŸ—ΊοΈ Day 1 Overview
Start your trip in the central Hongshan district, focusing on the main cultural sites. Begin at 9 AM at the Hongshan Museum (No. 188 Hongshan Road, open 9 AM to 5 PM, free entry). Spend about two hours exploring the exhibits on local history and art.

πŸ›οΈ Morning: Museum and Park
After the museum, walk 10 minutes to Hongshan Park (entrance at 200 Hongshan Road, open 6 AM to 10 PM, free). Stroll through the gardens and see the ancient pagoda. Grab a coffee at the park's tea house before noon.

🍜 Lunch: Local Noodles
Head to Old Hongshan Noodle Shop (45 Wenhua Street, open 11 AM to 9 PM) for a bowl of hand-pulled noodles for about 20 yuan. The broth is rich and the portions are generous. Arrive before 12:30 PM to avoid the lunch rush.

πŸ›οΈ Afternoon: Shopping Street
Spend your afternoon on Pedestrian Street (Hongshan Avenue, between Jiefang Road and Zhongshan Road). This car-free zone is lined with boutiques and snack stalls. Try the local candied hawthorn skewers for 5 yuan each.

πŸŒ† Evening: Riverside Walk
As dusk falls, walk 15 minutes to the Hongshan Riverside Promenade (along the Yangtze River, near Bridge Road). The lights reflect beautifully on the water. End the day with dinner at Riverside Grill (12 Binjiang Road, open 5 PM to 11 PM, mains around 50 yuan).

🏯 Day 2: Temple and Hills
On day two, venture to the northern part of Hongshan. Start at 8 AM at the Ancient Temple Complex (1 Temple Road, open 8 AM to 4 PM, entry 30 yuan). The complex includes three well-preserved halls and a bell tower.

⛰️ Midday: Hiking Trail
From the temple, take the 20-minute bus (Route 5, 2 yuan) to the base of Green Hill Trail. The hike to the summit takes about 1.5 hours and offers panoramic views of the city. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes.

πŸ›Œ Day 3: Relax and Depart
On your final day, enjoy a slow morning at a local tea house (Tea Garden, 88 Harmony Lane, open 9 AM to 6 PM). Sample oolong tea and steamed buns for 15 yuan. Then take the metro (Line 2, 3 yuan) to the train station for your departure.

This is a well thought out plan, you'll cover a lot of ground. A small thing people miss on Day 1 is that the Hongshan Museum has a free guided tour in English at 10 AM if you ask at the front desk, it's worth timing your visit for that. For the Green Hill Trail on Day 2, the bus stop is actually on the east side of the temple gate, not the main road, so look for the small shelter with the Route 5 sign. I've done that hike a dozen times and the view from the top is best on a clear morning before the haze sets in.

Solid itinerary, I've done almost this exact route a few times. One thing the guide doesn't mention: on Day 1, the Pedestrian Street gets really crowded by late afternoon, so if you want to browse the boutiques in peace, go right after lunch around 1:30 PM. Also, the Riverside Grill is decent but I'd recommend walking another 5 minutes south to Mama Chen's Kitchen (27 Binjiang Road) for the braised fish if you want something more local, it's about 45 yuan and the flavor is much better. For Day 3, the Tea Garden is great but they open at 9 AM sharp, so don't show up early or you'll be waiting outside.

good plan, i live near hongshan and ive done this route with visiting friends a few times. one thing i'd add is on day 2 after the temple, skip the bus and walk the 15 mins to green hill if u have the energy. theres a shortcut through the old residential alley behind the temple that leads straight to the trail entrance, way more interesting than waiting for route 5. also the tea garden on day 3 is lovely but if u want a proper breakfast get the scallion pancakes from the stall outside the metro station at harmony lane exit, theyre like 3 yuan and way better than the steamed buns inside

πŸ›οΈ Start at the Museum
The Hongshan Museum on Wenhua Road is a must for understanding the region's Neolithic jade culture. Admission is free, but you need to reserve a slot online at least a day in advance. Plan for about two hours to see the iconic dragon-shaped artifacts.

🌳 Stroll Through the Park
Hongshan Park, located at 123 Green Avenue, offers a peaceful escape with its lotus pond and shaded walking paths. Entry costs 10 RMB, and it's open from 7 AM to 6 PM. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds and catch locals practicing tai chi.

🍜 Eat at the Night Market
The Hongshan Night Market on Central Street runs from 5 PM to midnight and is famous for its spicy crawfish and grilled skewers. A full meal costs around 50-80 RMB per person. Don't miss the stinky tofu stall at the north entrance, it's a local favorite.

🚌 Getting Around
Hongshan has a reliable bus network with routes covering all major attractions. A single ride costs 2 RMB, and you can pay with a transit card or mobile QR code. Taxis are also affordable, with most trips within the city center under 20 RMB.

🏺 Visit the Jade Workshop
At the Hongshan Jade Art Center on Jade Lane, you can watch artisans carve replicas of ancient jade pieces. Workshops are held every Saturday at 10 AM and cost 150 RMB per person, including materials. It's a hands-on way to connect with the area's heritage.

πŸŒ„ Hike the Ridge Trail
The Hongshan Ridge Trail starts near the east gate of the park and offers panoramic views of the city. The 3-kilometer loop takes about an hour and is moderately steep. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, as there are no vendors along the path.

🎭 Catch a Local Show
The Hongshan Grand Theater on Culture Square hosts traditional Chinese opera performances every Friday and Saturday evening. Tickets range from 80 to 200 RMB, and shows start at 7:30 PM. Book online in advance, as popular performances sell out quickly.

πŸ›οΈ Shop for Souvenirs
The Hongshan Antique Market on Old Street is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM and is the best place to find jade replicas and local crafts. Bargaining is expected, so start at half the asking price. Look for the red lanterns at the entrance to find the main stalls.

solid tips in the post. one thing i'd add is that the bus to the ridge trail stop is route 7 and it drops you right at the east gate, saves the walk from the park entrance. also if you're at the night market, the grilled corn stall next to the stinky tofu place does this spicy mayo version that's way better than it sounds, 8 rmb a cob and they char it right there

the museum tip is solid but heads up, the online reservation system can be a bit finicky on mobile. i'd recommend booking from a desktop browser if you can, or try the wechat mini program around 8 am when slots refresh. also, the night market is great but the stinky tofu line gets crazy after 7 pm, go right when it opens at 5 and you'll have it to yourself

Good to see a proper guide for Hongshan. If you're into photography, the lotus pond in the park is at its best around 4 PM when the light hits the water just right. I've gotten some of my favorite shots there, and it's way quieter than the morning crowd. For the Grand Theater shows, the front row seats are actually the worst for sound, aim for row 8 or 9 in the center, those are the sweet spot for the acoustics.
