I've been to the Anhui Museum a few times and the Huizhou merchants exhibit is genuinely one of the best in the province, worth the trip alone. For a quieter experience at Dashu Mountain, skip the main trail and take the left fork near the entrance, it loops around the back and you'll see fewer people while still getting good views of the city. Also, if you're at Swan Lake in the evening, the light show on the TV tower happens at 8 PM sharp and it's free to watch from the promenade.
oh the anhui museum is great but heads up the new branch in the huaining road area actually has way more space and a cool exhibit on huizhou merchants. also if you're at xiaoyaojin grab some fried dough sticks from the cart just outside the south gate, they're better than the ones on huaibe road imo. for dashu mountain, go early on a weekend before 8am or it gets crowded with families
yeah this is a solid list, one thing i'd add is the science island area on dongpu reservoir. it's this quiet peninsula with a bunch of research institutes and a nice walking path along the water, really chill for an afternoon and barely any tourists. also for the huaihe road food, the grilled skewers at the alley behind the wanda cinema are way better than the main strip stuff, they do this spicy lamb that's insane. and if you're doing chaohu lake, rent the bike from the shop near the temple on the east shore, not the ones right at the parking lot, the guy there is cheaper and the bikes are newer

The downtown core recommendation is spot on, but I'd also point people toward the area around Sanxiaokou. It's just a short walk from Xiaoyaojin Park and has a lot of the same convenience without quite as much tourist foot traffic. There's a solid noodle shop on Suzhou East Road that does a great beef noodle soup for around 15 yuan, and it's open late enough for a post-walk dinner.
One thing the guide doesn't mention is that some of the budget guesthouses near the railway station can be a bit rough around the edges. If you're backpacking, the Hefei Youth Hostel on Wuhu Road is a better bet even if it's a few more yuan, the common area is cleaner and the staff are used to helping foreigners figure out the metro.
Good guide overall. One area that gets overlooked is the old town section near Gongyuan Street, just east of Huaihe Road. It has a cluster of renovated courtyard guesthouses that are quieter than the main drag but still walkable to Xiaoyaojin Park in about ten minutes. I stayed at one called Hefei Old Street Inn last year and liked that I could step out for jianbing from a street cart without dealing with the pedestrian street crowds.
For the nightlife section, the bars along Suzhou Road are fine but can get rowdy on weekends. If you want something more laid back, the craft beer spots around Wuhu Road near the university are better for actual conversation. They tend to close earlier though, around midnight.
This is a solid breakdown of Hefei's neighborhoods. I'd add that the area around Tian'ehu in the High-Tech Zone is worth considering for families too. It's quieter than Binhu but still has good parks and a nice lake for evening walks, plus the shopping mall there has a decent indoor playground for kids. Binhu can feel a bit spread out and empty in parts if you don't have a car.
For digital nomads, the co-working spaces near Innovation Avenue are fine, but I've found the cafes around the University of Science and Technology of China campus more pleasant for getting work done. They have reliable wifi and better coffee, and you're right next to the old campus which has a nice vibe for a break. The metro stop is a short walk away as well.
