honestly the Qilou Old Street rec is spot on but i'd add that staying there means you wake up to teh smell of fresh zongzi from the street stalls around 6am which is pretty magical. just know the noise is real, like motorbikes honking till 2am, so pack earplugs or grab a room facing the inner courtyard instead of the main drag

for digital nomads i'd skip the Kempinski and hit up the 3 Coffee spot u mentioned, their cold brew is solid and the wifi never drops. if u need a printer or meeting space the Haikou Library on Guomao road has free desks and it's dead quiet, just bring ur own snacks since the cafe there is mid

one thing the guide missed is the weekend farmers market near Holiday Beach on Sunday mornings, it's got fresh coconut water for 5 CNY and local honey vendors. way better than the touristy stuff on Binhai Avenue

Nice breakdown of the areas. If you're staying in Guomao, try the breakfast spot at the corner of Binhai Avenue and Yusha Road, a tiny place called "Lao Wang's Rice Noodles." Their beef noodle soup is 12 CNY and they start serving at 6:30 AM, which is perfect before a workday. It's not fancy but the broth has a deep bone flavor that beats any hotel buffet.

For the Holiday Beach area, the Sunday market tip is good but I'd also check out the seafood grill stalls along the promenade around 7 PM. They set up near the public beach entrance and charge about 80 CNY for a plate of grilled squid and clams, way cheaper than the resort restaurants. Just bring cash since they don't take cards.

The Haikou Bay area recommendation is solid but I'd add that the jogging path there connects all the way to the Wuyuan River estuary, about 8 km if you keep going. I did that run most mornings when I stayed at the Hilton and the sunrise over the water is worth the early wakeup. Just watch out for the stray dogs near the construction sites past the park gate.

For the Qilou area, there's a late night wonton stall on Bo'ai Road that opens around 11 pm and serves until 3 am. The old lady who runs it has been there for 25 years and her chili oil is homemade. It's tucked between two souvenir shops so easy to miss, but locals queue there after the bars close.
