fwiw the day 1 walking route is solid but if you cut through the alley behind the confucian temple you'll pop out at this old tea house that does fuqing's version of oolong, the owner roasts his own leaves and will let u sit on the rooftop for free. for day 2 the haikou ancient town tip is good but the ming architecture is mostly restored, the real charm is the old fishing harbor south of the promenade where they still dry squid on bamboo racks. one thing the guide doesnt mention is that the line 808 bus sometimes stops running early on sundays, i got stranded there once and had to hitch a ride with a farmer on his scooter. the wind farm at sunset is great but bring a jacket, that coastal wind gets chilly even in spring
