My buddies and I are planning a serious golf getaway, but I've heard conflicting things about the course conditions. Some say it's immaculate, others... not so much. Anyone who's played there recently, what's the actual state of the greens and fairways? Seriously considering a backup plan if it's a total disaster. Hoping for some honest opinions!

the other comments are pretty on point about the greens being the weak spot but i think they undersell how bad the bunkers are. played there last month and the sand was basically hardpan with a thin layer of dirt on top, ended up blading one out because the club just bounced off. if you're serious about the trip, skip tianzhu entirely and go to pine valley in changping like someone else said, it's about 40 minutes north and the whole course is in way better shape. also the caddies at tianzhu are hit or miss, some are great but others just stand there on their phones.

ngl i think the other replies are being a bit harsh. played tianzhu about 3 weeks ago and the fairways were actually pretty solid, especially the back nine. the greens though, yeah they're not great, but they're not a disaster either, just a bit slow and bumpy. if you're used to fast bentgrass it'll be annoying but you can still putt on them. if you want a real backup plan though, drive 40 mins north to pine valley in changping, it's way quieter and the greens roll way truer, plus it's cheaper on weekdays, like 500-600 kuai per person with a cart

honestly i live pretty close to tianzhu and i see people playing there all the time. the fairways are fine for a casual round but the greens are definitely inconsistent like you heard. if you're doing a serious golf trip i'd actually recommend checking out the course at sunrise triumph in shunyi instead. it's like 20 minutes east and the greens are way more consistent imo. tianzhu's main draw is the location near the airport not the course quality

Book by Thursday, weekends gone by Friday.

Calling ahead only helps if you ask for the counter seats facing the open kitchen, those go first.

The Grill House is solid but you're paying for the Sanlitun location. For the same money I'd rather walk ten minutes to Moka Bros or hit up a proper churrascaria. Weekend bookings are essential, walk-ins get turned away by 7pm.

Agree, but Fiume in Xidi has better dry-aged ribeye.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

moka bros is a salad chain tbh, for that cash i'd rather do the dry aged at 37 steakhouse on gongti east road

Fair point on the location premium, though I'd add that their lunch set is half the dinner price for the same cut.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Bistrot B at the Rosewood does a better pepper steak.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

tbh for that kind of cash id go to Wangjing and hit up the Brazilian rodizio places, endless picanha for half the price

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Rodizio works out cheaper but the good cuts run out early, so go before eight.
