Heard whispers of a secret student society, something about clandestine late-night experiments and... unusual alchemical concoctions? Anyone know the REAL story behind that? Is it just legend, or is there something actually... bubbling beneath the surface at BUCT? I'm already picturing myself accidentally stumbling into a hidden lab, wearing a lab coat, maybe even inventing a new kind of glow-in-the-dark ramen. Who knows?!

ngl the glow in the dark ramen idea is more likely at the wudaokou night market than any secret lab. the old chem building has a basement that's been locked for years but most people think it's just storage for expired reagents. if you wanna find the real weirdos check out the 24h convenience store on beisanhuan east road around 2am, that's where the chem grad students go for instant noodles and gossip

The old chem building basement story is mostly just a hazing thing for new students. But there is a real late-night group that meets in the lab on the 4th floor of the east wing, they're just a bunch of grad students working on a side project about polymer synthesis. They're not making anything weird, just trying to get their paper published before a rival group at Tsinghua. If you want to see something actually odd, check out the vending machine in the library basement that sells cans of "energy soda" with no label, it's been there since 2019 and nobody knows who restocks it.

Oh yeah, I've heard those rumors too. Pretty sure it's just upperclassmen messing with freshmen, but there's supposedly a group that meets in the old chemical engineering building late at night.

best photo spots in beijing?

heading to beijing in about 5 months and wondering where i should go for good photos. any favorite spots for early morning or sunset shots? heading to beijing in about 5 months and wondering where i should go for good photos. any favorite spots for early morning or sunset shots?

olympic forest park is slept on fr. the linden trees along the main axis go gold in late october and the bird's nest reflection in the lake at sunrise is nuts, barely anyone there on weekdays. also check out 798 art district on a weekday morning, the old factory pipes and graffiti make great contrast shots. tbh bring a wider lens than u think you need, everything in beijing is bigger than it looks in photos

everyone goes for the big landmarks but honestly the best shots i got were from the overpasses on the 3rd ring road at dusk, just traffic light trails with CCTV tower lit up in the background. also guomao at blue hour from the silk street footbridge, the CBD towers all glassy & orange, tripod helps cuz u need a slow shutter. one thing nobody mentions, air quality totally changes your photos so check the AQI app the night before, a clear day after rain is worth waiting for

For sunrise the Temple of Heaven east gate area is underrated, locals doing tai chi around 5:30am with the morning fog, way better than fighting crowds at Tiananmen. For sunset honestly just walk along the canal near Shichahai, the reflections off the water with the Drum Tower behind are hard to beat. Bring a tripod if you can, the good light only lasts like 20 mins this time of year.
