honestly the jade market tip is solid but go early like 8am before the tour groups show up. the vendors are way more willing to negotiate when theyre still setting up and you can get some real steals on raw stone if you know what to look for
also if you're at qianshan dont just take the cable car up and down. the hike from the north gate to the wuliang guan temple is gorgeous and takes about an hour, way fewer people on that trail. bring water though the stalls up top charge double
one thing the guide missed is the hot springs on the outskirts of town. there's a place called tanggangzi that's been around since the 1930s, super relaxing after a day of hiking. think it's like 60 rmb for a basic soak and they have these old school changing rooms that feel straight outta the republic era

also if you're into industrial stuff the anshan steel museum is kinda underrated. it's right next to the actual steel plant and they have this old blast furnace you can walk through. way more interesting than the main museum imo and it's only 20 rmb, just bring a jacket cause it gets cold inside
