Praça da Sé is a transit hub, not a laptop spot, so base yourself in Pinheiros and expect evening calls, since Europe is 4 to 5 hours ahead.

Stopped by Vintage Coffee & Emporium last week and the guy at the counter said there was a minimum card charge plus a separate 'service fee' for sitting in. Minimum card charge is normal, service fee usually isn't.

The card thing is common but sitting fees are rare in SP, unless it's couvert artistico which some places charge for live music.
