✈️ Airport Overview
Viracopos International Airport (VCP) is the main gateway, located about 14 kilometers from Campinas city center. It handles both domestic and international flights, with modern facilities and multiple transport options. The airport code is VCP, and it's officially named Aeroporto Internacional de Viracopos.

🚌 Airport Bus Service
The most economical way to reach the center is the airport bus operated by VB Transportes, which runs every 30 minutes from 5:30 AM to midnight. The fare is R$ 12.50, and the journey takes about 45 minutes, dropping you at the Central Bus Terminal (Terminal Central). You can buy tickets at the airport's ground transportation desk or directly from the driver.

🚕 Taxi Options
Official taxis are available outside the arrivals hall, with fixed fares to the city center around R$ 90 to R$ 110, depending on your exact destination. Always use the taxi queue and confirm the price before getting in. Avoid unofficial drivers who approach you inside the terminal, as they may charge inflated rates.

🚗 Ride-Hailing Apps
Uber and 99 operate at Viracopos, with pick-up zones clearly marked on the ground floor of the parking garage. Fares to the center typically range from R$ 60 to R$ 80, but surge pricing can increase costs during peak hours. It's wise to compare both apps and check the estimated fare before confirming your ride.

🚆 Train and Future Plans
As of 2026, there is no direct train from the airport to the city, but the planned TIC (Intercity Train) is expected to connect Campinas to São Paulo in the coming years. For now, the bus and taxi remain the primary public transport options. Keep an eye on local news for updates on the train project.

💰 Money-Saving Tips
To save money, take the airport bus instead of a taxi, especially if you're traveling alone. If you prefer a private ride, book a shared shuttle service like Airport Park Service, which costs around R$ 40 per person. Always carry small bills for the bus, as drivers may not have change for large notes.

⚠️ Avoiding Taxi Scams
Be cautious of drivers who approach you inside the terminal offering 'special' rates; they are often unlicensed and may overcharge. Always use the official taxi stand and check that the meter is running or the fixed fare is displayed. If you feel uncomfortable, walk to the ride-hailing pick-up area and order an app-based ride instead.

🕒 Travel Time Planning
Plan for at least 45 minutes to an hour to reach the city center, depending on traffic. During weekday rush hours (7-9 AM and 5-7 PM), allow extra time, as congestion on the Anhanguera Highway can delay your trip. For early morning flights, note that buses start at 5:30 AM, so a taxi or app ride may be necessary for very early departures.

honestly the bus is the way to go, but here's a little thing the guide missed: the Terminal Central drop-off is right next to the Mercado Municipal, so if you've got time before your next connection, grab a pastel de feira and a caldo de cana there, it's like R$ 8 and makes the 45 min ride feel worth it. also, for the ride-hailing pickup, ignore the signs that say "Uber" and "99" separately, they all line up in the same spot, so just walk to the far end of the garage where the cars actually queue, otherwise you'll be circling around confused while drivers honk at you. and if you're flying out early, the 5:30 am bus is real, but it fills up fast with workers, so get there 10 min early or you'll be standing the whole way.

The bus tip is solid, I've used it a few times and it's reliable, but here's a trick: if you're heading to the Barão Geraldo area for the university or tech parks, get off at the Terminal Central and hop on the local bus 321, it's another 20 minutes but saves you a heap compared to an Uber. Also, for the official taxis, the fixed fare board is right by the exit, so snap a photo of it before you queue, that way you can check the driver isn't quoting you a different number. One thing the guide didn't mention: the airport has free wifi for 30 minutes, so you can order your Uber or 99 while you're still inside and then walk straight to the pickup zone, beats standing around in the heat.

Good write-up, covers the basics well. One thing I'd add: if you land late and the buses have stopped, don't stress about the official taxis, the 99 app usually has cars waiting right at the garage even past midnight, and it's often closer to the lower end of that R$ 60-80 range. Also, for the bus, buy the ticket at the desk inside, not from the driver, the machine sometimes eats your card and the driver doesn't carry change.

June is synonymous with Festa Junina, and Campinas hosts several celebrations, the largest at the Parque Portugal (Lagoa do Taquaral). Dress in typical caipira attire if you want to join the fun, and arrive early to avoid crowds.

It features independent Brazilian films and often includes Q&A sessions with directors. Tickets are usually priced at R$20 per session, and a festival pass is available. It's a quieter event, perfect for cinephiles looking to escape the summer heat.

📚 September Book Biennial

The event brings together publishers, authors, and book lovers for readings, signings, and workshops. Entry is often free or costs a nominal fee like R$5. 🎨 October Art Fair
In October, the Campinas Art Fair takes over the Praça da Imprensa in Cambuí, showcasing works by local artists and artisans. The fair runs from Thursday to Sunday, typically from 10 AM to 8 PM. good effort on this. one thing missing: the christmas market at parque taquaral gets mobbed after 7 so go around 5 when it opens. also check the CPFL museum in december, they do free choir nights that are way calmer

Solid rundown, but for Festa Junina I'd skip Lagoa do Taquaral and hit the smaller church quermesses in Barão Geraldo instead, way less packed.
