Getting around Adelaide in 4 months?

I'm heading to Adelaide in about 4 months and trying to figure out the best way to get around. Should I rely on the tram and buses, or is it worth renting a car for a few days? if you're staying near the city, the free city connector bus is honestly underrated, it loops around all the main spots like rundle mall and the central market. for longer trips, the train network is solid too, like the seaford line gets you down to brighton or port noarlunga in under 30 mins from the city. car rental for a day or two is smart if you wanna explore the adelaide hills or mclaren vale, but i'd skip the airport rental places and go with a local spot like budget on waymouth st, cheaper and less hassle.

the metro system is actually pretty decent for daily stuff, the bus network goes way further than people think, like you can get to hahndorf or the beach suburbs without much hassle. if you're here for 4 months, get a metrocard asap and load it up, it's way cheaper than paying cash and you can use it on everything. for a car, honestly just rent one for a weekend trip to the barossa or fleurieu peninsula, but don't bother for inner city stuff, parking is annoying and expensive

depends where you're staying tbh. the tram is great for the city to glenelg corridor, and the free city connector bus is handy for central spots. but if you want to hit the hills or go to victor harbor, a car for a couple days is worth it. i'd skip renting for the whole time and just grab one for a weekend, maybe thru a local place like sixt on hindley street.
