**🏯 Start at the Old Fortress** Begin your visit at Pyeongtaek Fortress, a reconstructed Joseon-era walled town in the city center. The site is free to enter and open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a small museum inside the gate. Walk the perimeter for a quick orientation and views over the modern city. **🚢 Explore the Port Area** Pyeongtaek Port is one of Korea's busiest, and the waterfront promenade near the International Passenger Terminal is a pleasant spot for an evening stroll. The area is about a 20-minute taxi ride from Pyeongtaek Station. On weekends, you can watch cargo ships and fishing boats come and go. **🌳 Relax in Central Parks** Pyeongtaek has several well-kept parks, but Anjeong-ri Park near the US military base is a local favorite for its walking trails and outdoor exercise equipment. It's free and open 24 hours. For a quieter experience, head to Seojeong Park, which has a small lake and a pavilion. **🍜 Taste Local Specialties** Pyeongtaek is known for its seafood, especially at the restaurants around Pyeongtaek Port. Try the spicy fish stew (maeuntang) at any of the small eateries near the fish market, where a meal for two costs around 30,000 to 40,000 won. For a quick snack, grab a hotteok from a street stall in the city center. **🛍️ Shop at Local Markets** The Pyeongtaek Central Market is a traditional market with fresh produce, dried fish, and household goods. It's open daily from early morning until around 7 p.m. For a more modern shopping experience, visit the AK Plaza Pyeongtaek, a department store connected to Pyeongtaek Station. **🚴 Cycle Along the River** The Anseong River bike path runs through Pyeongtaek and connects to the larger national cycling network. Rent a bike near Pyeongtaek Station for about 3,000 won per hour. The flat route is family-friendly and passes by several rest areas with snack bars. **🎭 Catch a Cultural Show** The Pyeongtaek Cultural Center hosts traditional music and dance performances throughout the year. Check their schedule for weekend shows, which are often free or low-cost. The center is a 10-minute walk from Pyeongtaek City Hall. **🌅 Watch the Sunset** For a memorable sunset, head to the western coast of Pyeongtaek near Poseung-myeon. The area has several small cafes with ocean views, and the sunset over the Yellow Sea is especially striking in spring and autumn. Bring a jacket, as it gets windy.
