**🍽️ Cheap Eats in Szczecin** For a filling and affordable meal, head to a milk bar (bar mleczny) like Bar Mleczny Kaskada at ul. Malczewskiego 10, where a two-course lunch costs around 15-20 PLN. For street food, try the zapiekanka stands near the train station or the paszteciki at Piekarnia Aslan (various locations) for under 5 PLN. A budget dinner of pierogi at Przystanek Pierogarnia (ul. Wyszyńskiego 12) will set you back about 20-25 PLN. Keep an eye out for daily lunch specials (zestaw dnia) at many restaurants, often priced at 20-25 PLN from 12:00 to 16:00. **🚌 Getting Around on a Budget** Szczecin's public transport is cheap and efficient. A single 15-minute ticket costs 3.40 PLN, while a 24-hour ticket is 15 PLN. Buy tickets from vending machines or via the mobile app (e.g., mPay or SkyCash) to avoid surcharges. The city is also very walkable, especially the Old Town and Łasztownia areas, so you can save money by exploring on foot. For longer stays, consider a 72-hour ticket for 30 PLN. **🏨 Affordable Accommodation** Hostels in Szczecin offer dorm beds from 50-70 PLN per night, with places like Hostel Szczeciński (ul. Monte Cassino 19) being a popular choice. For a private room, budget hotels such as Hotelik Elka (ul. Struga 10) start at around 120 PLN per night. If you're traveling in a group, consider renting an apartment via Airbnb or Booking.com, where prices can drop to 150 PLN per night for a two-person flat. Book in advance during summer and festival weekends for the best rates. **🏛️ Free Things to Do** Many of Szczecin's top attractions are free to visit. Stroll through the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle courtyards (ul. Korsarzy 34) without paying for the museum, or explore the vibrant street art in the Niebuszewo district. The Wały Chrobrego promenade offers stunning views of the Oder River and is perfect for a picnic. On Sundays, many museums like the National Museum (ul. Staromłyńska 27) offer free admission, so plan your visit accordingly. **🎟️ Discounted Attractions** Szczecin offers several budget-friendly attractions. The Pomeranian Dukes' Castle museum costs 20 PLN for adults, but students and seniors pay only 10 PLN. The Szczecin Philharmonic (ul. Małachowskiego 48) has cheap tickets for some events, starting at 30 PLN, and often hosts free lunchtime concerts. For a unique experience, visit the Szczecin Underground Tourist Route (ul. Panieńska 15), where tickets are 25 PLN, with discounts for families. Always ask about reduced fares with a valid student ID or ISIC card. **🛒 Local Saving Tips** Locals save money by shopping at bazaars like Plac Tobrucki, where fresh produce is cheaper than in supermarkets. The Biedronka and Lidl chains offer weekly discounts on staples, and you can find reduced-price items in the evening. For entertainment, check out free events at the Szczecin Cultural Center (ul. Andersa 4) or the free walking tours offered by local guides (tip-based). Also, many bars and cafes have happy hour deals from 17:00 to 19:00, so plan your socializing accordingly. **💧 Water and Snacks** Tap water in Szczecin is safe to drink, so carry a reusable bottle and refill it at public fountains or in your accommodation. For snacks, visit local bakeries like Piekarnia Grzybowski (ul. Wojska Polskiego 18) for fresh bread and pastries at low prices. Supermarkets like Carrefour Express often have discounted items near closing time. Avoid touristy shops in the Old Town for snacks; instead, head to a nearby Żabka convenience store for affordable drinks and sandwiches. **💳 Money-Saving Apps** Download apps like Jakdojade for public transport schedules and mobile tickets, which can save you time and money. Use Groupon Poland to find discounts on restaurants and activities in Szczecin. For accommodation, compare prices on Booking.com and Airbnb, and look for last-minute deals. Also, check the Szczecin tourist card (Szczecin Card) if you plan to visit multiple museums; it costs 40 PLN for 24 hours and includes public transport and museum entries.
