**🏯 Start at the Castle** Begin your visit at Okayama Castle, known as Crow Castle for its black exterior. The castle keep is open from 9:00 to 17:30 (last entry 17:00) and admission is 400 yen for adults. Climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city and the nearby Korakuen Garden. **🌿 Stroll Korakuen Garden** Right across the river from the castle lies Korakuen, one of Japan's Three Great Gardens. The garden is open from 7:30 to 18:00 in summer (until 17:00 in winter) and costs 480 yen. Walk the winding paths to see the tea house, the large lawn, and the seasonal flowers, especially the iris and lotus in early summer. **🍑 Taste Local Peaches** Okayama is famous for its white peaches, and summer is the peak season. Visit the Okayama Momotaro Market, held on the first Sunday of the month at Omotecho Arcade, where you can buy fresh peaches directly from farmers. If you're not there in season, try peach-flavored soft serve or juice at the station area shops. **🚲 Ride the Kibi Plains** Rent a bicycle and ride the 15-kilometer Kibi Cycling Road, which connects Okayama to Soja City. The route passes through rice fields, small shrines, and the historic Kibitsu Shrine, one of Japan's largest. Bikes are available at several rental shops near the start, with prices around 500 yen per day. Allow three to four hours to complete the ride at a leisurely pace. **🎨 Visit the Art Museum** The Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art, located near Korakuen, showcases modern Japanese and Western art. It is open from 9:00 to 18:00 (closed Mondays) and admission is 300 yen for the permanent collection. Check the schedule for temporary exhibitions, which often feature works by local artists or themed collections. **🏮 Explore Kurashiki** Take a 20-minute train ride to Kurashiki's Bikan Historical Quarter, a preserved canal area with white-walled warehouses and willow trees. The Ohara Museum of Art, Japan's first museum of Western art, is a must-see, with works by El Greco, Monet, and Picasso. The quarter is free to wander, and you can enjoy a boat ride along the canal for 500 yen. **🍜 Eat Okayama Ramen** Okayama has its own ramen style, characterized by a soy-based broth with a hint of seafood and topped with chashu and green onions. Try a bowl at Menya Ichimaru, a local favorite with several branches, for around 800 yen. For a unique twist, sample the 'demi' ramen, which uses a rich chicken and fish stock. **🌅 Catch the Sunset** End your day at the Okayama Port area, where you can watch the sun set over the Seto Inland Sea. The nearby Uno Port, a 30-minute train ride away, is a great spot for a seaside stroll and dinner at a local seafood restaurant. If you're visiting in summer, check for evening events at the port, such as fireworks or live music.
