**🗓️ Day 1 Morning: Matsudo Station** Start your day at Matsudo Station on the JR Joban Line, just 20 minutes from Ueno Station in Tokyo. Begin with a walk through the station's west exit, where you'll find the Matsudo City Tourist Information Center for maps and local tips. Then head to the nearby Matsudo Shrine, a peaceful spot with a history dating back over 1,000 years. Grab a quick breakfast at one of the station's bakeries, like Andersen, which opens at 7:00 AM. **🏯 Day 1 Afternoon: Central Matsudo** After exploring the shrine, walk 10 minutes to the Matsudo City Museum to learn about the area's Edo-period heritage; admission is 200 yen and it's closed on Mondays. For lunch, try the local specialty, Matsudo na (a type of green onion), at Soba Dokoro Matsuya near the station. In the afternoon, stroll through the Tojo-tei House and Garden, a former imperial villa with beautiful seasonal flowers; entry costs 300 yen and it's open from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. **🍜 Day 1 Evening: Dining and Relaxing** For dinner, head to the lively area around Matsudo Station's east exit, where you'll find izakayas like Torikizoku, a chain with affordable yakitori and drinks. If you prefer something quieter, try the unagi (grilled eel) at Obana, a local favorite that's been around for decades. End the evening with a soak at a sento (public bath) like Matsudo Onsen, which costs around 500 yen and stays open until 11:00 PM. **🚶 Day 2 Morning: Yagiri and Edogawa** Take the Keisei Matsudo Line from Matsudo Station to Yagiri Station, a 10-minute ride, and start your day with a walk along the Edogawa River. The Yagiri no Watashi, a traditional ferry crossing that dates back to the Edo period, operates from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM and costs 200 yen for a round trip. After the ferry, visit the nearby Shibamata Taishakuten Temple, just across the river in Tokyo, which is famous for its intricate wood carvings. **🍡 Day 2 Afternoon: Shibamata Stroll** Spend the afternoon exploring the nostalgic Shibamata shopping street, where you can sample sweet dango at Kameya, a shop that's been open since 1950. For lunch, try the handmade soba at Yamamoto-tei, a former merchant's house with a lovely garden; expect to pay around 1,500 yen. Then walk back to Yagiri Station and return to Matsudo for a break at your hotel. **🌃 Day 2 Evening: Matsudo Nightlife** In the evening, head to the area around Matsudo Station's west exit, where you'll find a variety of restaurants and bars. For a casual dinner, try the ramen at Menya Musashi, a popular spot with rich tonkotsu broth. If you're in the mood for drinks, check out Bar Matsudo, a cozy spot with local sake and craft beers, open until midnight. **🌸 Day 3 Morning: Hondo and Parks** On your final day, take the Shin-Keisei Line from Matsudo Station to Hondo Station, about 15 minutes, and visit the Matsudo City Hondo Park. This park is especially beautiful in spring when the cherry blossoms bloom, and it's free to enter. Nearby, you can explore the Hondo History and Folklore Museum, which has exhibits on local life; admission is 100 yen and it's closed on Mondays. **🛍️ Day 3 Afternoon: Shopping and Departure** For lunch, try the hearty tonkatsu at Tonkatsu Suzuki near Hondo Station, a local favorite with set meals around 1,200 yen. Afterward, head back to Matsudo Station and explore the shopping complex at Atre Matsudo, which has a range of shops and a supermarket for last-minute souvenirs. If you have time, visit the Matsudo City Library, a modern facility with a good selection of English books. From Matsudo Station, you can catch the JR Joban Line back to Ueno in about 20 minutes, or the Keisei Line to Narita Airport in about 50 minutes.
