Chembur's Best Kept Secret?

Question

I'm heading to Chembur next week for a friend's wedding. Everyone keeps raving about the street food, but they're all vague. Seriously, "the best pani puri EVER" isn't helpful! I'm looking for specific recommendations, names of stalls, maybe even what makes them so special. I want to avoid tourist traps and find the real hidden gems (but not *hidden* hidden gems, you know?). Any insider tips on where to score truly amazing street food in Chembur?

if u r around chembur east anyway, skip the station chaos and walk to the Ghatla market lane. there's an aunty selling bombay-style sandwiches and toast at a tiny shop, she does a chilli cheese toast on brun pav that i still think about. go after 9pm when the wedding crowd has thinned out, prices are like 30-40 bucks. also the frankie roll guy near Sahakar Nagar signal is solid but he closes by 10.

the chembur street food scene is mostly around the station east side, not the west. head to the lane behind chembur station (east), theres a guy doing vada pav with dry garlic chutney thats way better than the fancy places. for pani puri specifically, try the stall near Ambedkar Garden around 6pm, he uses cold mint water and the puris are made fresh every hour. avoid the ones right outside the station, theyre overpriced and prob catering to commuters.

tbh the real chembur move is going early morning, not evening. Diamond Garden side has a guy doing misal pav from like 7am, way before the wedding chaos starts. his farsan is super crunchy and he doesnt drown it in oil like most places. also try the kheema pav at the small place near Basant Park around 8am, its a proper old-school irani style thing, been there for years.
