**🗓️ Planning Your Trip** A three-day visit to Likasi works best if you group activities by neighborhood to minimize travel time. The city is spread out, but most attractions are in the center, the industrial north, and the southern residential areas. Plan to start each day by 8:00 AM to make the most of daylight, and keep small cash in Congolese francs for transport and entrance fees. **🚌 Getting Around Likasi** Shared taxis and minibuses are the main way to get around, with fares ranging from 500 to 1,000 CDF for short trips within a neighborhood. A trip from the city center to the industrial zone takes about 15 minutes by taxi, while crossing town to the southern neighborhoods can take 20 to 30 minutes. Hiring a private taxi for a full day costs around 20,000 to 30,000 CDF and gives you more flexibility. **🏛️ Day 1: City Center** Start at the Likasi Cathedral on Avenue Mobutu, which opens at 7:00 AM and is free to enter. Then walk to the nearby central market, where you can find local produce and crafts from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. After lunch, visit the Museum of Likasi on Avenue Lumumba, open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a 1,000 CDF entry fee. End the day with a stroll along the main boulevard. **🏭 Day 2: Industrial North** Take a taxi to the Shituru mining area, about 15 minutes from the center, to see the historic mining sites. The Likasi Metallurgical Plant offers guided tours at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM for 5,000 CDF per person. Afterward, have lunch at one of the local eateries on Avenue de l'Industrie, where a plate of rice and beans costs around 3,000 CDF. Return to the center by 4:00 PM to avoid rush hour. **🌳 Day 3: Southern Neighborhoods** Begin at the Likasi Zoo on Route de Kambove, which opens at 8:30 AM and charges 2,000 CDF for adults. Then head to the nearby Lake Kivu viewpoint (not the actual lake, but a popular local spot) for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, explore the craft market on Avenue des Artisans, where you can buy handmade souvenirs. Allow 30 minutes for the taxi ride back to the center. **🍽️ Where to Eat** For breakfast, try the local bakeries around the central market, where you can get fresh bread and coffee for under 2,000 CDF. Lunch options include Chez Mama Jeanne on Avenue Mobutu, serving traditional dishes like fufu and pondu for about 5,000 CDF. Dinner at Restaurant Le Panorama on Avenue Lumumba offers grilled fish and chicken, with meals starting at 8,000 CDF. Most restaurants open around 11:00 AM and close by 9:00 PM. **🛏️ Accommodation Tips** Hotels in the city center, such as Hotel Likasi on Avenue Mobutu, offer rooms from 40,000 CDF per night and are within walking distance of major sights. For a budget option, guesthouses in the southern neighborhoods charge around 20,000 CDF and provide basic amenities. Book in advance during the dry season (May to September) when demand is higher. **💡 Practical Advice** Carry a copy of your passport and visa, as police checks are common. The local currency is the Congolese franc, and while some places accept US dollars, you'll get better rates paying in francs. Tap water is not safe to drink, so buy bottled water (500 ml for about 1,000 CDF) from shops or street vendors. French and Swahili are widely spoken, so a few basic phrases will help.
