**🍜 Must-Try Local Dishes** Wenlan is famous for its hand-pulled noodles, especially the beef version served at Lao Zhang Noodle House (45 Wenlan Road, open 7am-9pm, 15-25 RMB). Another essential is the crispy scallion pancake from Auntie Li's stall in the night market, priced at just 5 RMB. For a sit-down meal, try the steamed fish with ginger and scallions at River View Restaurant (88 Riverside Drive, mains 40-80 RMB). **🏮 Best Street Food Stalls** The Dongmen Night Market (Dongmen Street, open 5pm-midnight) is the heart of Wenlan's street food scene. Look for Uncle Wang's grilled squid skewers (10 RMB each) and the stinky tofu stand near the entrance (8 RMB per portion). For daytime snacks, the morning market on Ximen Street (6am-11am) offers fresh soy milk and youtiao for under 10 RMB. **🥟 Top Dumpling Spots** Wenlan takes dumplings seriously, and the best are at Dumpling House (22 Harmony Lane, open 10am-8pm, 20-35 RMB per plate). Their pork and chive dumplings are a local favorite, but don't miss the shrimp and leek variety. For a quick fix, the frozen dumpling shop on Corner Street sells 50 dumplings for 30 RMB to cook at home. **🍚 Rice and Noodle Classics** For a hearty bowl of rice noodles, head to Old Town Rice Noodle Shop (12 Ancient Street, open 6:30am-2pm, 12-18 RMB). Their signature dish features pork bone broth and sliced beef. Another classic is the claypot rice at Claypot King (78 Market Street, open 11am-9pm, 25-40 RMB), where the crispy bottom layer is the highlight. **🍢 Evening Snack Streets** When the sun sets, Wenlan's snack streets come alive. The most popular is Binhe Road Snack Street (open 6pm-1am), lined with stalls selling grilled skewers, fried rice, and sweet desserts. Try the grilled lamb skewers at Ah Q's Stall (3 RMB per skewer) and the mango sticky rice from the dessert cart (10 RMB). **🍵 Tea and Dessert Shops** Wenlan has a growing tea culture, with modern tea shops popping up alongside traditional ones. Visit Cha Yuan (56 Tea Lane, open 10am-10pm, 15-30 RMB) for their signature milk tea with grass jelly. For traditional desserts, Sweet Corner (34 Old Market Road, open 1pm-11pm, 10-20 RMB) serves red bean soup and sesame balls. **💰 Budget Dining Tips** Eating well in Wenlan doesn't have to break the bank. Most street food stalls and small eateries charge between 5 and 30 RMB per dish, and a filling meal at a local restaurant rarely exceeds 50 RMB. Look for set meals at lunchtime, when many places offer discounts, and always carry cash as some stalls don't accept mobile payments. **🚌 Getting Around Food Areas** Most of Wenlan's food destinations are concentrated in the old town, making them easy to explore on foot. The Dongmen Night Market is a 10-minute walk from Wenlan Metro Station (Line 2, Exit B), while Binhe Road Snack Street is a 15-minute walk from the Old Town Bus Terminal. Taxis are readily available and start at 8 RMB, but traffic can be heavy during dinner hours.
