**🍜 Signature Dishes** Qingzhou is famous for its savory pancakes (jianbing) and hearty lamb soup, both staples of local street food. For a classic breakfast, try the crispy jianbing filled with egg and scallions at the morning market near the East Gate. Lamb soup, often served with flatbread, is a warming lunch option at many small eateries along Fan Gongting Road. **🏮 Old Town Stalls** The historic Old Town area, centered around Ouyuan Street, is packed with food stalls that come alive in the evening. Sample grilled skewers of lamb and chicken hearts at the night market, where prices range from 2 to 5 yuan per stick. Don't miss the sesame cakes (zhima shao bing) from a stall near the Bell Tower, a local favorite for over a century. **🍲 Top Restaurants** For a sit-down meal, head to Qingzhou Restaurant (No. 88 Yunmen Road), known for its braised pork and sweet-and-sour carp, with mains averaging 30 to 60 yuan. Another excellent choice is the Old City Flavor House (No. 12 Beiguan Street), where you can try the local specialty of fried tofu in a rich sauce. Both places are busy at noon, so arrive before 11:30 am to avoid a wait. **🥟 Dumpling Delights** Qingzhou's dumplings are smaller and thinner-skinned than those in the north, often filled with chives and pork. A popular spot is Dumpling King (No. 45 Nanmen Street), where a plate of 20 dumplings costs about 12 yuan. For a vegetarian option, try the mushroom and egg dumplings at the same shop, which are equally flavorful. **🍢 Street Snacks** After dark, the snack street near the South Gate offers a variety of quick bites, including fried stinky tofu and candied hawthorn sticks. A serving of stinky tofu is typically 8 yuan, while the hawthorn sticks are 5 yuan each. For something sweet, look for the traditional sugar paintings made by street artists, a treat that costs around 10 yuan. **🍵 Tea and Desserts** To experience local tea culture, visit the Qingzhou Tea House (No. 3 West Street), where a pot of jasmine tea costs 15 yuan and comes with complimentary snacks. For dessert, try the osmanthus cake at the nearby Sweet House Bakery (No. 21 East Street), a delicate pastry that sells for 6 yuan per piece. Both places are perfect for an afternoon break. **🛒 Market Shopping** For fresh produce and local ingredients, visit the Qingzhou Farmers Market on Renmin Road, open daily from 6 am to noon. Here you can buy seasonal fruits, such as peaches and persimmons, at prices 20% lower than in supermarkets. Also look for the local specialty, Qingzhou pickles, sold in jars from 8 yuan, which make great souvenirs. **💡 Budget Tips** Eating well in Qingzhou is affordable: a full meal at a street stall costs 15 to 25 yuan, while a restaurant dinner for two is around 80 to 120 yuan. To save money, stick to the local specialties and avoid tourist-oriented places near major sights. Also, carry small bills, as many vendors do not accept mobile payments for purchases under 5 yuan.
