**🍜 Must-Try Local Dishes** Jiannan is famous for its hearty beef noodle soup, slow-braised for hours with star anise and Sichuan peppercorns. Another staple is the crispy scallion pancake, best enjoyed fresh off the griddle at street stalls for around 5 to 8 yuan. Don't miss the steamed pork buns, filled with juicy minced pork and cabbage, sold in bamboo baskets at breakfast time. **🏮 Old Town Food Streets** The narrow lanes of Jiannan Old Town, particularly around Fuxing Road, are packed with family-run eateries that have been serving the same recipes for decades. Start at the corner of Fuxing Road and Renmin Street, where you'll find a cluster of stalls selling grilled skewers and fried dumplings from 10 AM to 10 PM. Prices here are very reasonable, with most snacks costing between 3 and 15 yuan. **🥟 Best Breakfast Spots** For an authentic Jiannan breakfast, head to the morning market on Zhongshan Street, open daily from 6 AM to 10 AM. Try the rice porridge with pickled vegetables at Auntie Li's stall, a local favorite for over 20 years, costing just 4 yuan. Another great option is the soy milk and youtiao (fried dough sticks) stand near the East Gate, where you can get a full meal for under 10 yuan. **🍢 Street Food and Snacks** Jiannan's street food scene shines in the evening along Binhe Road, where vendors set up from 5 PM to midnight. Look for the stinky tofu stall near the river bridge, which sells small portions for 6 yuan and large for 10 yuan. Other must-tries include grilled squid skewers, candied hawthorn, and sweet potato fries dusted with plum powder. **🍽️ Sit-Down Restaurants** For a more comfortable meal, visit Jiannan Roast Duck House at 88 Jiefang Road, known for its crispy skin and tender meat, with half a duck costing around 68 yuan. Another solid choice is the Sichuan Flavor Restaurant on Heping Street, where a full dinner for two runs about 120 to 150 yuan. Both places fill up quickly on weekends, so arrive before 6 PM or make a reservation. **💰 Budget and Prices** Street food in Jiannan is incredibly affordable, with most snacks ranging from 3 to 15 yuan. A sit-down meal at a mid-range restaurant will cost between 40 and 80 yuan per person, while high-end dining can reach 200 yuan. Budget travelers can easily eat well for under 50 yuan a day by sticking to local stalls and markets. **🚌 Getting Around** Most food areas in Jiannan are within walking distance of each other, especially in the Old Town and along Binhe Road. If you need to travel further, local buses 3, 7, and 12 all stop near the main food streets, with fares at 2 yuan. Taxis are also cheap, with a starting fare of 8 yuan, but traffic can be slow during evening rush hour. **🌙 Evening Food Scene** After 7 PM, Jiannan's night market on Guangming Street comes alive with sizzling woks and smoky grills. The most popular stalls are the lamb skewer vendor at the north end and the spicy hotpot stand in the middle, both open until 1 AM. Pair your food with a cold local beer for 5 yuan and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
